They're not inaccurate???
I dare you to watch their episode on Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and try saying that with a straight face.
I dare you to watch their episode on Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and try saying that with a straight face.
I loved their Star Wars Episodes. [editline]16th April 2016[/editline] All of them. I still enjoy Cinema Sins, and I also liked the video in this thread. I'm just weird that way.

This video's got some examples on why I just fucking hate cinema sins At some points, they're not even criticizing. They're not talking about anything wrong with the movie. They just say a thing and *ding* https://youtu.be/qvkZ8sCd5EI?t=138 "Want to know one of our own sins? 'King Kong ain't got shit on me!'" ...What does that have to do with anytning? Same with "one of us was an extra in a movie." That's just a fact about yourselves, not a criticism of anything. Christ, that's not even a joke, that's just simply mind numbing.
The problems with CS begins and ends at them not being funny, in my opinion. I don't see why people get so riled up over them.
When you talk about CS complaining that Sherlock says something witty rather than jump out the window and save himself the trouble, that's a joke, and not one of their "hurr durr" ones. The joke is if movie characters always did the most sensible thing then scenes/whole movies would be a lot shorter (eg why didn't they use the eagles to fly to Mount Doom in LotR). If Sherlock didn't say anything he'd save himself the trouble but the scene wouldn't feel right because we expect fun quips in our action movies.
From what I remember a lot of their episodes had reasonable and entertaining complaints, it's just that Sherlock may have been a miss for them.
their jokes are cheap and inaccurate, whether or not it's 'legit critique' makes no difference. zero correlation here
i don't get it yes people shouldn't take cinemasins seriously but they do and that's a problem but whether jokes are inaccurate or not, they're still jokes and if they're joking you shouldn't take them seriously regardless of whatever the fuck they say [sp]i enjoy them, bite me[/sp]
If he's genuinely being an idiot on purpose then he should really push his character further, because missing minor movie details is hardly the pinnacle of comedy.
For the most part i find their videos hit and miss, sometimes i laugh at them other times i think they go on too long, other times i think they're trying too hard like the Sherlock Holmes video. Other times i see a film and i hope and prey for the day it turns up on Cinema Cins because it was a truly fucking awful experience that had me unintentionally laughing throughout. Other times they 'critic' a film while basically praising it for being brilliant. Some point's are jokes, some are legit, some are just pointing out standard cinema cliches. You decide. Also stop giving a fuck what other people think of a film you like.

Overused or not, appropriate or not, it's a trope therefore it's a sin, it's consistent. Those are alright, in fact, that's why I watch CS - I enjoy those quite a bit. But when it's literally nothing but a terrible joke and a "ding!" - that's dumb as shit, so are scenes that are flat-out taken out of context. Sure it's comedy, but it's annoying as shit in an overall enjoyable thing.
i hate cinemasins and think they're horribly unfunny but this has all turned into a huge stupid mess of people actually dogpiling the guy's twitter account telling him to delete and people getting high and mighty about trve kvlt internet criticism https://twitter.com/KyleKallgren/status/721097699848765440 like fucking really dude

I have never not enjoyed a film because of CinemaSins and I watch their videos all the time. They take the piss out of everything from kids movies to academy award winning classics, if that isn't enough to make you accept that they are joking then I don't know what is. They've even said before that they have sinned the crap out of their own favourite movies because they enjoy making these videos.

Everybody's just saying their jokes make no sense and aren't funny.
people just say how some people do take them seriously and that makes them shit, but i feel like that's not really their fault, i mean they could make it more clear it's satire but i feel it'll take away from it
people just say how some people do take them seriously and that makes them shit, but i feel like that's not really their fault, i mean they could make it more clear it's satire but i feel it'll take away from it
They can't make it more clear than openly stating in their main video 'We're not reviewers, we're assholes' People take them serious? those people are idiots but ultimately why the fuck should anyone care.
I don't think anybody here has said that they're not joking? Everybody's just saying their jokes make no sense and aren't funny.
And plenty of people disagree and think they are funny. If a difference in taste is all that is being displayed here, why is anyone arguing with anyone? The guy in the video even says something to the effect of "they're not making it clear enough that they are joking" as if they are doing something harmful. At the very least, he's taking a difference of opinion way too seriously.
EWW works much better for shitty movies than good ones in my opinion.
EWW works much better for shitty movies than good ones in my opinion.
I'm sure they could find plenty enough of actual mistakes in Sherlock Holmes if they looked hard enough. Like any period movie there's bound to be countless tiny historical inaccuracies.
people just say how some people do take them seriously and that makes them shit, but i feel like that's not really their fault, i mean they could make it more clear it's satire but i feel it'll take away from it
But satire isn't a trump-all excuse either. It depends on what the satire is about ie, if the punchline of the scene about why a group of henchmen doesn't have any guns was Cinemasins' own incompetence, "satire" would be a great justification. Except that's not the joke at all, or else they would've overlayed the footage of the guy with a gun, and you'd be laughing at how much of an idiot the narrator is for not noticing something that's clearly on screen. Instead, they cut away from it and you're meant to laugh at how everyone has a club and how convenient this is for the main characters. The satire is in how the issues are blown out of proportion, not that they're not issues at all. They're clearly portrayed as issues or else the jokes wouldn't work. It's like Maddox: it's satire because he's exaggerating banal problems, but if there weren't problems in the first place then there would be nothing to exaggerate. You'll never see Maddox complaining about the Vietnam war scene from Interstellar, because that scene doesn't exist. If you think it's all just an excuse to say whatever, you lack a fundamental understanding of satire
If he's genuinely being an idiot on purpose then he should really push his character further, because missing minor movie details is hardly the pinnacle of comedy.
It really doesn't help that he has the same repertoire of lame jokes that get shoehorned into every single video. *place name, country name* "Ah, as opposed to *place name, other country*." *ding* *scene with attractive female character* "*attractive actress* is not my girlfriend in this scene" *ding* etc
The issue is that they frame their videos in such a way where it is hard to tell if they are serious or not, which misleads people.
Oh man, what a crime, a handful of random people on the internet are being slightly mislead about the quality of a movie. Truly a tragedy. This video is fucking childish btw.
Who are these people?

Who the fuck are either of these people
Kyle is OANcitizen, he had a show on Channel Awesome before deciding to leave for some reason.

so the "satire" angle is complete bullshit. lmao

I've officially watched more of these than CinemaSins now. Glorious
I know that you shouldn't take CinemaSins serious, but there are way too many people who take it serious so they use them to fuel their negative opinions of certain movies. Thanks for the video.
