What? When was the last time Facepunch (implying this is a hivemind (lol no)) ever hated something because it's mainstream? Of course they're some people are going to some hatred towards something just because it just doesn't appeal to them. It's called first impressions. This is a site where we have an established culture on what is collectively (but not all) accepted and rejected. You can go to any other community and expect something different. Keep in mind that we are not objectively stating anything about Jacksepticeye and you conclude that we are overactive hipster just because he's popular. What about all the positive Pewdiepie threads from the past weeks just because his content?

I just use overactive hipster as an example it doesn't mean that you people are overactive hipsters. Also collectivity is basically a popular opinion.
I don't mind the guy but this video is almost physically painful to watch.

Look there are group thinkers in this community and there are independent thinkers which are more open to new experiences than group thinkers, which seem to follow some form of social standards.
I find him very annoying because of how obnoxious and loud he acts. Although that's generally what is required to entertain the type of audience he is targeting (preteens and asspies) and I don't fit into that group whatsoever so I'm bound to not find his content entertaining.
But fuck me right I'm just a hive mind sheep who can't form his own opinions.

his channel is basically a gimmick
In order to stand out in the let's play community you gotta have a gimmick now. He chose to use his accent and crank it up to 11. He could've just talked normally and I could respect him, but he chose to over-exaggerate everything about himself in order to attract the most possible viewers.
He could've been a really interesting let's player. It would've been great to just hear him talk like a normal person and to learn a bit about where he lives and who he is. Instead he chose to copy everything the others do in order to make money. He doesn't do this because he enjoys it, he does it because he can make the most profit possible.
I'm sure he's a nice dude, and being honest if I had the confidence and face for it I'd do the exact same thing he did. Easy cash for putting out low effort content. But I can't respect the practice of it. I think let's playing is a fine career path, just don't go about it by being annoying and using cheap tricks.
This is why I prefer the Best Friends instead. They actually have more personality than just shouting and face cams. They actually let us know about their lives and they actually seem like they are legitimately doing this because they enjoy it. They have knowledge about game design as well which makes them even more interesting to watch and listen to.
Jacksepticeye doesn't seem like actually anything real. Dude just feels forced and fake to me. He's just a character that he plays, and the real version of him I assume isn't nearly as hammy and ear shattering.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. The only thing he exaggerates in his videos are his intro and outro, which has pretty much become how you easily recognize the channel.
