So wait, did I hear that correctly? The show is Canadian but it didn't air in Canada?
Yes.
I still remember the ~mysterious~ advertising they did to get people hyped before the show debuted, which was just a loop of a sketchy early animation of the three of them chasing a jawbreaker down the street while the theme song played, and eventually a release date displayed. Shit sure got me interested.
Closest things I could find to that effect being these old promos from 1998. They're all old, like no one young is doing the voices
They're all old, like no one young is doing the voices
You can't have a kid say the same line 250 times. [editline]8th May 2016[/editline] Also I suppose they were younger back when the show started... Been a couple of years.
You can't have a kid say the same line 250 times.
I mean sure you can. The two main stars of The Wonderful World of Gumball are kids. I'm sure they have to do lots of takes.
It's just more cost effective to find adults who can sound kidlike as opposed to actual kids
It's just more cost effective to find adults who can sound kidlike as opposed to actual kids
Also their voices have already changed. It's gotta be hard to keep a show running if your main voice actor is a pre-teen, because if their voice starts to change it's gotta suck

Andy in Toy Story 3 is the same voice actor as he was in the previous movies, and there was a 10 year or so gap between the movies.
So wait, did I hear that correctly? The show is Canadian but it didn't air in Canada?
The studio is Canadian but CN is American, so you could only see it in Canada if you got American TV stations.
I wasn't allowed to watch this because my mom said it was too stupid. I did sneak here and there
this seems to be a strangely common experience for some reason. i feel like i've seen a ton of people who say their parents hated the show and wouldn't let them watch it
I think everyone has had their mum tell them that Ed Edd n Eddy was 'retarded'
I loved the 4th wall breaks as well in Ed, Edd, and Eddy.
this seems to be a strangely common experience for some reason. i feel like i've seen a ton of people who say their parents hated the show and wouldn't let them watch it
I remember my family was throwing a party while I was a kid, and I had Ed Edd n Eddy on the TV. I noticed my step dad was watching it. It was the episode where the Eds discover a river and charge people to ride on their tire boat. I couldn't help but notice he actually laughed at some parts like when Ed was kicking his feet to make the boat go faster. Made me proud as fuck.
My favorite thing about the show's 4th wall breaking is that they don't shove it in your face and point out that it's clearly a 4th wall joke. They just happen real fast.
Use to love this cartoon came on when Iwas a kid. Butter toast became a bloody catchphrase at my school, strange place.
this seems to be a strangely common experience for some reason. i feel like i've seen a ton of people who say their parents hated the show and wouldn't let them watch it
My parents loved Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy. Then again they had no problems with me watching cartoons unless it was meant for adults ie late night Toonami or Adult Swim which I didn't find until I was ten. It was probably the only show that I watched right up to it's finale while it was still airing. I loved it, it's definitely one of my top 5 TV shows growing up.
I think everyone has had their mum tell them that Ed Edd n Eddy was 'retarded'
My mom loved it as much as I did.
I have never seen a cartoon with as good of sound design as this show. The music and the crazy sound effects to go with the action all just fit the animation and art direction so perfectly.

Was not expecting Edd's voice actor to have that kind of voice :v:
