This just in everyone
You should know what you're buying, how it is, and what it is, before you buy it, but guess what, you can't use marketing and PR because none of that is real so you should just know anyways
i feel like this is what you're saying.
yes I feel that since marketing isn't indicative of the final product I'm just going to buy and pre-order every edition to find out if I should spend my money.
I can't wait for Aliens: Colonial Marines!! #thehypeisreal
Look guys, don't tease the downy with his potatoes, he'll only star backpedaling and crying.
I seriously hope that's a joke or you're confusing the titans with something else or bashing TB or something, titans are like monster trucks, including the horribly expensive for it's use parts

1. Titans are not for gaming, 670s are even better IIRC
2. Dev's ignore optimizing their games for SLI'd cards because a lot of mainstream consumers haven't even heard of SLI
thats why it's dumb to SLI Titans

670's are not better than a Titan.
Not better than the new Titan at any rate.
the rational conclusion of your argument that "people shouldn't base their opinions on what the company said they were gonna do compared to the final result"
No people should base their opinions what they actually expect. Not have some guy from a marketing team holding your hand through a list of promises. I'm pretty sure we've known this for a while. Look at Spore. I don't know how you're getting that out of my posts, you must be dyslexic or something

I don't think you know what you're trying to say well enough to actually communicate it.
I just don't think PR and hype can affect how good the game is objectively and people shouldn't base their opinions on what the company said they were gonna do compared to the final result or what people said they wanted to expect compared to the final result. Just my 2 cents. Or more like 10 bucks by now.
because you said this, shortly following what I've already critiqued you for
it's your opinion, and purely that, that hype and PR shouldn't have any effect into what we're buying. Now, I agree with you, it shouldn't. But we're both wrong, because factually, it does.
Now, based on our agreement that PR is bad, what do you think people should be buying their games based off of? How will they know how good or bad a game is before they buy it if we don't have marketing or PR or anything?
It runs smooth as hell for me, running on absolute max. The game studdered every time I drove but not any more after the first patch. But apparently it's not too friendly for AMD cards. and Uplay servers have been shitting the bed but it's getting less frequent. I compared it to SR2 because it's another city roamer and it's graphics are dated, the game never literally looks that bad, but it has it's moments where you simply can't be impressed.
Hey I've got a GTX 560 2GB and an Intel i7 2600k 3.4gHz quadcore and 16GB of DDR3 random access memory (Read that while you pinch the ridge of your nose for maximum nerd effect) I wonder if I'll encounter problems with performance? Did you disable motion blur? Because they keep throwing in this obnoxious motion blur effect that really eats at your performance. Totally inefficient and hurts people's eyes.
If you combined all the effort facepunch puts into arguing about the absolute stupidest shit ever, and redirected it into something productive, I wonder what could be accomplished.

do the concepts of discussions and forums disturb you as a whole or something?
literally the only point to any discussion should be work related?

Motion blur is on. But now that you mention it I'm probably going to disable it. I disable it in every other game.

So because I said PR can't affect the overall quality of the end product, that means I think you should eat up whatever a marketing agent says without any salt?
Sorry if it's articulated that way, but it doesn't read like that to me.

Arguing about the absolute stupidest shit is one of the main reasons I take breaks from SA and come back here
feels great

except that's not what I meant by that at all.
in fact, the exact opposite. you're the one saying that we should be okay with our products being sold to us on lies because as long as we're skeptical enough, who cares right?
except that causes the logical conclusion I bolded before.

Nobody verbally lied. They showed a detailed demo that failed to deliver. I'm saying don't fucking preorder a game unless you're SURE you just want to be involved with that IP. Don't look at some optimistic E3 demo and think THIS GAME GONNA BE SOOOO WICKED and have your finger on the purchase trigger, because the final result is never as good as you hype it up to be when first seeing the launch trailer.
But my point there is that none of that shit has anything to do with the final result. It's like you're expecting da vinci and are given picaso and you end up saying "this is shitty as fuck, I thought I was going to get da vinci". That only makes the painting bad, to you, personally. It doesn't affect the quality whatsoever.
[editline]30th May 2014[/editline]
I'm just annoyed from always reading "didn't bother with that game, I think it's overhyped"
like the hell other peoples excitement has anything at ALL to do with what the game is. Some peoples kids, man.

1. Titans are marketed for gaming, 670's aren't better. If the game can't utilize the power of a Titan, then it is the game's fault.
2. If the dev's ignore optimizing their game for SLI cards, they should've put more sleepless nights into the game c:
completely stupid and wrong about the Titans. my bad. I'd just read somewhere on Facepunch that Titans are marketing for gaming but they're actually for computing, and there are plenty of better Nvidia cards. Google says otherwise ;_;
a quick google showed me that the Titan beats the shit out of the 670
just not on a price performance scale, it's just better, but the cost is astronomically higher than the performance increase

you must be talking about Titan Z
It's designed for something more than just gaming.

Oh my god, this shit gets more hilarious
if physics is the main goal of games visual elements going forth like hybridtheroy said he wants, then watch dogs is not a step in the right direction.
god damn it my hopes for The Division keep falling.

if the trailers weren't complete bullshit then it seems to be pretty good chance of being a good game
but it's ubisoft we're talkin about here..
Infamous: SS looks amazing, really. Watch Dogs couldn't dream of living up to it in terms of visuals. Yet Watch Dogs came out after infamous and I think I like it better. The powers in SS are just eye candy and they may as well be called plasmids. It all boils down to gameplay>graphics. I'm paying money for a game, not a tech demo. Granted there are a few cut corners in WD that shouldn't have been cut. But after seeing that ubisoft employee AMA i can't help but think the game could have pulled off the visuals they intended to deliver had they more time.

7 years down the line I want fucknig materials to have absorbency dammit
it should be physics > graphics in terms of next-gen technology
what?
what?
I never said that watch dogs was a step in the direction of next-gen technology. you're stooping down to being a nitpicky little sperg and it's quite hilarious
