/v/ is the most reliable source.
to be fair though, I'm sure nobody's hacked the game to make the 90 degree track thing happen
also, the day 1 patch could fix some of these graphical problems we see (the 90 degree train thing, for example) and for those having problems with watch dogs on nvidia cards, they just released the watch dogs driver today http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/nvidia-geforce-337-88-whql-watch-dog-drivers
I am not really interested in Watch Dogs but good god you all are being pretty big sperglords about things which really don't matter.
1. The dynamic lighting and shadows (GTA + / Watch Dogs -). 2. Physical model of environment on the stairs' example (GTA + / Watch Dogs -). 3. Environment damage model like scratches, cracks and stuff (GTA + / Watch Dogs -). 4. Blood trails from the collisions (GTA + / Watch Dogs -). 5. Water actual physical model (GTA + / Watch Dogs -). 6. Car damage physics (GTA + / Watch Dogs -). 7. Actual environmental reflections (GTA + / Watch Dogs -). 8. Overall physics model and interactions ion the example of the fure hydrant (GTA + / Watch Dogs -).
I mean how big of a sperg do you have to be to care that the car does not have every wheel accurately on each step of a staircase. Is there really ever going to be a point in the game where a single ripple in the water is going to be consequential to the gameplay in any way? I am going to save this thread for when you all inevitably say "It's the gameplay that matters, not graphics" about another game.
I'm not minding the game, but holy god does every little thing in it feel unpolished in every way. It's like they added a ton of features but didn't refine any of them. The driving is poor, but you can order almost any car... but you can't change the colour or tune anything. There are quite a few guns, but you can't customize them so the specialty guns are all you'd ever need because they're directly better than every other gun, and are accessible immediately, so there is no reason why you'd even use anything other (handgun wise) than the auto-revolver or the silenced 1911. Every single sidequest is exactly the same other than what they were doing at the time of the event (E.G. Follow a guy until they set fire to something, or punch someone). It's all these good ideas but half executed that makes me not like the game nearly as much as I should.
I mean how big of a sperg do you have to be to care that the car does not have every wheel accurately on each step of a staircase.
the small things make a game big and better. good thing watch dogs has just as cool small things, like ambulances passing by on the street with sirens blaring that arnt caused by you, Car crashes could appear on your route (some cars were burning hard), a guy who hated me randomly screamed at me then started shooting at me on the street, and other various little things i liked about the game.
Most of this seems like it's focused on cars. IMO, it's a little unfair to compare Watch Dogs to GTA because GTA is heavily focused on driving, while Watch Dogs, for the most part, only uses cars as transportation from one point to another.
/v/ is the most reliable source.
Wouldnt normally ever link a thread but this guy is legit, he uploads a webm of a build of AC4 that no one has ever seen and its some weird developer demo, gotta read it quick because it is dying. half of the things in the video were about different aspects of the same decal system for vehicle interactions, seems a bit overzealous about making watchdogs look worse. Plus there did seem to be deformation of the car, just not wildly exaggerated smashes. I'm not saying it's ok they skimped out on the decals of all things (really this has been something I've seen since the first xbox, weird it's left out) but it's not fair to take comparisons from someone so clearly on a mission to bitch
the small things make a game big and better.
Yes, because cramming things you will almost never notice into a game, increasing the latency, improves the game. Consider the following. How much more latency would the game have if they implemented water physics? For what? You will see a ripple in the water once, it has zero effect on gameplay. All the people claiming that this is an embarrassment are essentially the problem with AAA games today.
the water deformation in gta was fucking wonky. I thought when he was going to drive the WD car into the water there wouldn't be a splash at all, but it reacted just fine
Same, the prerendered effect was completely acceptable.

So is it confirmed that you cannot kill or hit pedestrians? If so, that is a real bummer. What can one do to interact with the peds anyways?
So is it confirmed that you cannot kill or hit pedestrians? If so, that is a real bummer. What can one do to interact with the peds anyways?
You can kill and hurt peds all you want. Usually, people around you call 911 though, and your reputation goes down.
You can kill and hurt peds all you want. Usually, people around you call 911 though, and your reputation goes down.
Ah, I see. It's good to hear that it's possible though. I also heard from somewhere that escaping the police is really wonky and mundane. Is this true?
Ah, I see. It's good to hear that it's possible though. I also heard from somewhere that escaping the police is really wonky and mundane. Is this true?
Sometimes it's unfairly difficult, other times it takes around 5 seconds. I don't have trouble escaping them, I have trouble avoiding the cTOS scan they do after you escape.
I feel like people are giving the developers a hard time over something relatively unessential to the experience they wish to create, but then again I'm not everyone so obviously there will be people who disagree and feel that it's more important.
You know, i agree to an extent. In the end, a lot of these smaller things are easily ignored or missed when you're not paying attention. But when the world doesn't exist in reflections and the water from the hydrant clips through the car like it's not even there, it gets to the point where it's unacceptable. Don't get me wrong, what the developers are trying to primarily convey about the game is important and a big deal but when all the quality of life things aren't there, it detracts from the immersion and the quality of the game itself. A next-gen game should not be outdone by a game released six years ago.
I'm usually the last to purport this, but this is a prime example of the PS3/360 holding back the game. I recall reading an article a few weeks ago about the development of Watch_Dogs; The devs had so many ideas that they wanted to implement but it was a matter of getting it to run properly on all of the consoles. Ground Zeroes suffered the same problem, and for that I worry for TPP. Ubisoft should've just did a next-gen only release and I'm sure this game would shine like the new consoles can.

I was exicted for Watch Dogs but now it seems like I could just as well play something like GTA until there is a sharp discount(and GOTY/performance patches). A shame. It had so much more potential.
Well saints row 2 was a much better game than gtaiv and it looked like ass.
Well, first of all that's a matter of opinion. Second, waaaay to miss the point.
The only problem I'm having with this is that Ubisoft marketed this game as the ultimate next-gen game with top notch graphical fidelity when the end result really isn't all that impressive. This game only really shines during night time or when it's raining or something. I mean, when I look at the screenshots people posted here, it looks like something that could've came out a couple years ago.
Game still looks like a blast, still excited for it. If you don't want the game don't cry about it, just don't get it :v:
Reading about how Ubisoft changed the game, I wonder if it was in response to GTA V being such a huge success. The game was originally going to be released in November of last year but got delayed to this year for some reason. I'm thinking that's when they decided to change the game and make it more like GTA (less espionage and hacking, more gun shooting). It's a shame too, I was actually looking forward to this game for a while.

However I guess they forgot the fire hydrants :v http://blog.ubi.com/watch-dogs-animating-a-next-gen-city/ http://blog.ubi.com/why-was-watch-dogs-delayed/
Everyone knows the true way to test technical aspects of a game is by driving cars into things.
driving cars into things
[vid]https://giant.gfycat.com/MistySelfassuredCrossbill.webm[/vid]
this game is probably worth like 20$ honestly looking at how it can't even beat gta4 in tech, a game made on a last gen console... in 2008, are you shitting me?
It is quite a shame really. Seeing the first footage was so exiting and actually looked like they were trying to do something new. Now after seeing these videos and a bunch of other stuff it is really disappointing. I really hope the final release is nothing like this.
