lmao have you been reading Shadez's posts? Maybe you should keep reading mine to see the rest of the argument. By the way, good to see you have no argument and are contributing so much to this highly intelligent conversation.
Agree with him 100%.
Honestly I'm all for women's rights.
But we're different.
Women need to embrace who they are, and not try to be what they aren't.
Heck, I wouldn't mind being a women. There's nothing BAD about it. We are meant to be different, that's why there are 2 sexes. Some people aren't happy with that, they get sex change. Cool beans, go for it! Be who you want.
Just sick of these people complaining that men are trying to keep women in chains when in reality not like that, and any difference is just the way our species works, down to the biological core.

I'm criticizing her because I can and I think she doesn't really know what she is talking about. In your words she just wants to focus on the "poor women." This is evident by her complete and total lack of solutions, just a "oh woe is us womens" circlejerk in an attempt to bring attention to herself (and also shown in all her videos, not just TvW). Maybe if she left the comments on in an attempt to encourage the discussion I could see something else in her motives (I will, however, also recognize the counter argument that youtube is a horrid place).
At this point it kind of seems to me like you're whiteknighting (ready to jump to the blind defense of all internet womens, anywhere!). You're on my case for attacking one woman, who is just a (as in one) person. It's exactly like the people who call Bill Maher sexist because he said Ann Coulter was a stupid woman. He called her that because she is stupid and happens to be a woman, not because she's a woman and that makes her stupid. Just because I "attack" one person does not mean I am attacking any sort of group(s) they belong to. Much like how I'm not "attacking" whatever ethnic group she belongs to.
And again, I seriously doubt women are harmed in any way by these pathetic video game stories. But I don't know for sure. Have you done research on it? The TvW lady sure as fuck hasn't.
because whining about a woman making videos of women's portrayals in games, claiming she does it for attention (attention whore!!), then accusing others who dare agree with her as being "white knights" is such a fantastic contribution to a "highly intelligent conversation"
how you can call it a circlejerk is beyond me. the only circlejerk here is of the brave gamers on the internet coming out in unison to jerk over how wrong they think she is while assuming she's out to destroy them medium or something
I cant wait in like a year or two when no one even remembers Anita or any of this shit.
I cant wait in like a year or two when no one even remembers Anita or any of this shit.
Yeah. I, too, wish nobody ever talks about this again. The problem will fix itself if we ignore it just like racism :downs:
I cant wait in like a year or two when no one even remembers Anita or any of this shit.
the male gaming community will have to find a new woman to hate first
I cant wait in like a year or two when no one even remembers Anita or any of this shit.
Maybe, one day, people like you won't be around, so people like Anita won't have to try educating people like you.
the misogynist gaming community will have to find a new woman to hate first
really most guys who play games are just fine

funnily enough people are fine when people critique cod for having shallow as fuck gameplay.
I cant wait in like a year or two when no one even remembers Anita or any of this shit.
Honestly I think this period of internet history should be enshrined. Never before had a group failed so hard in trying to bully someone into silence and had it blow up in their face before.
Holy mother of fuck. "Be who you want! Unless you want to be something that society has deemed not appropriate for your gender. In that case get a sex change."
Amazing. You solved it.
I mean I'm sure we are quite biologically different but i think we can agree that in modern times it makes practically no difference to your abilities. (Disregarding sexism etc. which we know ain't cool.)
This sounds like the reasoning of someone on youtube who said "Black people have different brains to ours. They are more submissive. They need to realise that they should not expect to become leaders in our society." (Not exact words.)
Did you pay attention at all to the sexual di-morphism part? It's not the same at all in relation to racial differences.
ftfy

I guess that is true. Still shocked me when Anita won every negative award during the /v/ award thing. I feel like many more otherwise good people become knee-jerk misogynist when people like Anita come around than one would think.
ftfy

OK maybe 'most' but I'd say 30% are downright shitty people.
I don't even know who's trolling anymore.
what we're seeing here is reverse sexism at is finest, using a propaganda-like tactic of targeting a certain demographic.
I'd say 30% (of the male gaming community) are downright shitty people.
pessimist
I'd say 30% is optimistic in my experience but I'm an asshole.

well you play cod a lot, I play RTS, CS where the community is older (and has hosted pink leagues and stuff)

you're one of the 30%? :P
well you play cod a lot, I play RTS, CS where the community is older (and has hosted pink leagues and stuff)
Hardly. I play Battlefield and Guild Wars 2 for the most part. I play a lot of games. It's not one specific community.
women are shitty too u sexist
I acknowledge that on my steam profile

then you really meet assholes, because I don't think I have blinders on, and the community in general in the games I play is relatively egalitarian

You know what?
I can't either.
Shit
but I also believe that it is impossible to "educate" people on this stuff. You can point it out, like she did, but there's a certain biological basis for how we behave, and why women are viewed this way. And people are cashing in on it.
I think one thing that a lot of people don't realize is that fighting, conflict and action is primarily a masculine thing from a biological standpoint. That's the reason that most action games are aimed at males. Discussion, thought and relationships is primarily a feminine thing, and that's much harder to implement in a video game.
There are of course exceptions to this, but as a whole, men and women are biologically different when it comes to personalities.
The issue feminism tries to resolve is the same issue that must be resolved with a ton of other things in our society, which is fitting people into "boxes" and stereotypes, and making assumptions and generalizations about people. Just because woman are more likely to be a certain way doesn't mean we should treat all women as if they are that way, or assume every woman we meet is that way unless proven otherwise. Many more people realize this when it comes to gender than when it comes to things like religion and class.
It's also a problem when people assume that women and men are exactly the same, because they aren't, and no one should call someone a misogynist just for pointing that out. No one should say all of these are socially constructed either; it's a proven fact that estrogen and testosterone have different effects on people's personality and physiology.

~biotruths~
I actually knew a girl who insisted no straight men could be careful and thoughtful, only gay men and females could be.
If you really think that men and women are the same biologically, mentally, and even emotionally, you really need to read up on a lot of things.
