Wow that Black Mesa East gravity gun practice was pretty sick
are they doing this frame by frame or memory? cus it's like pitch black and they're navigating like wizards
Did they just fly over the goddamn ocean what the fuck is this magic
Is there some fuckery with the movement model or physics going on or is it actually possible to gain such momentum jumping backwards?

If you ever watched Portal Done Pro/Pro-er you'll see it uses a glitch called Accelerated Back Hopping (ABH), HL2 receive the same glitch after it was updated to use the Orange Box engine.
Because fuck physics.
holy christ.
i'd be terrified if i was a combine soldier.

pretty sure its a real time speedrun
that was cool as heck

no, you'd just be confused because of all the orange blurs happening lately

Yup, the newer version of the engine killed bunnyhopping by (apparently) detecting you were going too fast, and then reducing your forwards momentum.
Except, they're going backwards, and reducing forwards momentum is basically increasing backwards momentum.
Why does bumping their heads with a prop make them "move?" :v:

All memory, because I'm pretty sure that Hourglass doesn't work with HL2, or many games at all for that matter...

they still havent added mouse support to that?

I'm guessing that it's some failsafe in case they get stuck making them teleport to the next position in their the scripted scene.

I don't think it's even in development anymore.

I don't even know what Hourglass is :v:
this is a speedrun that i like, showing actual movement skills and tons of thinking
not like the portal speedrun where he just glitches through everything, the whole video was basically watching noclip
Amazing. Its shit like this that makes speedrunning amazing
Sonic needs to take a page or two from Gordon.
mfw he got in the elevator with Breen

Half-Life runs will never cease to amaze me.
the only immature on I see here is the one who thinks he's mr superior maturity here.
I think I can call myself more mature than them: I am not the one who can't stand still for half a second without staring at someone's ass or shooting a dick into the wall. You can't say that is not immature, and one could even argue that it is disrespectful to the characters (whom Valve took pains not to sexualize (extremely rare in the industry)) and to women in general.

The moments in which they were actually playing were amazing though. The way they occasionally dispatched enemies was phenomenal.
They are as good at being immature 12 year olds as they are speedrunning, clearly
women are mysterious creatures to them
to you*
nothing mysterious about dat ass and tits

few moments in this speedrun left me wondering though, in the canals.
the part where the gates magically opened, and the part where you gotta blow the gates up, he just sort of sniped the barrels through the gate from afar.
I liked the part where gordon went fast
Breen starts his speech to Gordon as Gordon super jumps up to the portal and starts wailing on it with Energy Balls
Breen is still talking as Alyx gets gunned the fuck down by a gunship, all while Alyx, Breen, and GMan are all talking simultaneously.
Truly beautiful

It was a joke, a humor to pass time during the parts where they're forced to stand around doing nothing but follow the talking characters. It was only one of the players doing it (Matmo), and even then while it's not really all that funny, it's just really awkward attempts at keeping the players interested instead of bored.
It's like around ten different speedrunners, just some random folks with a common interest of going through a game as fast as possible, doing speedruns of a game that's nearly ten years old in different segments played interchangeably between them. Not a message in the gaming industry about sexism. No need to be severely up in arms about it like it was a Pewdiepie series of rape jokes over and over.
I suggest grabbing the (legit) torrent of this. Not only is it higher quality but there is also another audio track where they talk about how hard some of the segments are and some tricks that they used. There was quite a bit of trial and error and thinking on this run.

How many times have you played through HL2?

I thought about it, but 6 gigs would take me ages to DL...
