I feel like they could've knocked off a wee bit more time by redoing the 1:11:30-31 part. It seems like the guy accidentally hit the wall :v:
I think Alyx talking is a timed section, and won't follow till she finished talking, so he didn't lose time. I could be wrong though
wow fuck off would ya

it ain't even working in sandbox servers for me. what
Gmod runs on a fork of the orange box engine, so it's likely garry touched something and [del]broke it[/del] intentionally removed it
There's no anti bunnyhop in multiplayer so you don't get the backwards boost
the hopper ramp jump was incredible.
So what games does ABH still currently work on
So what games does ABH still currently work on
It only works in singleplayer

All of the above.
I suggest grabbing the (legit) torrent of this. Not only is it higher quality but there is also another audio track where they talk about how hard some of the segments are and some tricks that they used. There was quite a bit of trial and error and thinking on this run.

there's no commentary in this

Did you switch the audio track or is it just not there?

How? I'm using VLC
How? I'm using VLC
Click audio at the top, then hover over Audio Track and choose track 1 or track 2, assuming it's there.
Yeah it's there. Works fine for me.
there's no commentary in this
Yes there is.
The Route Kanal music kicking in at 13:50 just adds to the amazing-ness of the stunts.

"Yeh, goodluck shitlords."
I love how Breen just rolls his eyes and looks away when he lands in the elevator.
That citadel portion was insane.
I wonder why didn't they just ditch the airboat altogether? Like when he reaches the part where they give him the airboat gun he just leaves it there and goes on foot which is much much faster, i don't understand why couldn't they do that troughout the whole chapter?

In the commentary they stated that they couldn't ditch the airboat since the two gates guarding the place where you get the gun was impossible to climb over on foot, even with bunnyhopping.

Obviously they couldn't, they definitely would've done that if it was at all possible considering how hard they work on this.
Makes for a hilarious contrast at least. First few minutes, they're just going along in the airboat, nothing special aside from the insane tricks they do. Suddenly, you expect a gate to close, he uses the 'teleportation' of entering the airboat to skip the trigger, and then he gets back out and zooms across the place.
The coast part was fucking awesome, I didn't even know it looped around like that. And the way they skipped the bridge by leaping over the whole thing.
I fucking love speed runs. Also I like how HL2 is now another game where you can speed run it by running backwards.

The airboat is needed for a certain trigger so if you would ditch it you can't continue.
So what games does ABH still currently work on
Hl2, ep1, and portal 1. It also works in gmod singleplayer.
In root canal, why did the speedrunner get out of the airboat then get right back on it in the pipe/tunnel thing? Surely it would have been faster to just stay in the airboat.

If you mean at the big factory with the gates that close, it's to bypass the trigger that closes those gates.
Holy shit at 42 minutes when they just jump the whole fucking map
watching this video reminds me that half life 2's gameplay may have aged poorly IMO, but that soundtrack is so fucking good oh my god

"alright gordon, the car's ready for you."
"or you can just run away and not take it you big piece of shit. whatever."

youre horribly wrong, i just played through the entirety of HL2 and it was a blast. it aged a lil bit, yeah, but certainly not poorly. and this is coming from someone whos grown to realize that HL2 is really overrated
fuck, do you even REMEMBER late game, when the rebellion is in full swing? such frantic and fun gunplay/gameplay, im glad i took the time to run through the game again and now im gonna head into the episodes

It's more things that are considered bad today. In the similar deal to Valve showing off in the excessively long HL1 tram ride, they make you do silly physics puzzles for the sole reason of "Hey guys, did you know we had physics? We know that in reality we don't know why anyone would make this puzzle, but physicssssssssssssssssss." They will introduce cool mechanics like the Bugbait or Floor Turret to never be used out of a chapter or two. The boss battles are painfully obvious and the only change that occurs is weather you have the RPG or not. After Nova Prospect when the rebellion is actually doing something, the game is just set up as throwing 10-20 enemies at you, going to a new area, and repeating until you get to the gunship or whatever that thing that wasn't the helicopter was.
It's still a good game, but it is definitely aging. Graphic wise, the only thing that looks kinda bad is the character's faces, especially the G-Man.
