Yes, they are monsters, because they ruin other people's lives. But, no, it's not the same. Every side of WW2 has its share of atrocities, which one has the most is irrelevant. What's relevant is that war sucks

Have you ever considered that war can make you do disgusting shit, especially when informed of what enemy did to your population? Wanting revenge is morally reprehensible, the atrocities comminted with that thought in mind are non teh less horrible, but I think the attitude of many Soviet soldiers towards Germans (both military and civillians) was somewhat understandable. Most of the atrocities originated from there.
And these people, damaged by war against the enemy who sought extermination of them and all their relatives (even if in the long run), and made no secret of it, are monsters? Too simple, don't you think?

so the mass rape of Berlin was OK because the Russians were tired of war. The mass murder of 104,000 German POWs in Stalingrad was ok because the battle was really bloody. Yeah war sucks but nothing is understandable or justifiable about war crimes.

You're also forgetting the fact that a LOT of people (who weren't even russians to begin with) were drafted into the red army involuntarily, for example estonians and latvians. Were they the victims of a cruel regime or were they just murderers and rapists, like everyone in the red army was in your opinion.
