Same for every other science fiction show.
gus fring is the only reason this could be watchable
People said the same thing about Stephen Lang in Terra Nova. Didn't stop it from sucking ass.

yeah but usually sci fi shows have some sort of magitanium that makes things possible
in this the only thing that could do this and not kill everyone is an alien ghost sweeping across the planet sucking the electricity away and flying off into space, anything else would just kill everyone. i mean if it was handled like a mystery then i guess it would be okay but it's being played totally straight here and it just comes off as fucking ridiculous
i mean when that plane just plopped out of the sky like it was dropped by toddler Yahweh i was in fucking stitches
Is this show really set into the Deus Ex universe?
And you know what else bothers me? The fact that this can't possibly have a satisfying, plausible explanation, there is no fucking way. You and I both know it's going to be along the lines of "the electrons were tired of being used by humans, so they just STOPPED WORKING" or some other stupid bullshit.
And why is everyone riding horses? Where did all the fucking bicycles go?

Maybe all the electricity in their brains stopped working too.

American TV
you expect any of it to make sense?
But I picked the Helios ending...
Anyway, I just can't get past the fact that electricity doesn't work at all. And apparently all current weapons run on batteries, too.
I remember how one soldier in Iraq escaped death. He run out of ammo, luckily he found an electric outlet in the building he was hiding in and was able to return fire.

Yes but we're naturally inclined to pick plotholes and there are so many here that it's stupid.
it's like someone wanted to handwaive modern technology away but they couldn't figure out how to do it in a way that would allow for hot hollywood actresses to still exist
Awful.
Why aren't they using automatic guns instead of crossbows and ancient firearms?
Lack of electricity doesn't explain it since guns don't need electricity to function.
Whatever, this looks like shit anyways.
This looks dumb and cringeworthy. I also like how all the main characters are omg gorgerous, because you know, people who live in that kind of world clearly have time to perfect their makeup for close ups, including the boys.
also one guy beating 6 guys at once in a fucking knife fight, all without breaking a sweat, shit I know this is going to suck or be corny as fuck.

ahahaha this
i guess i should just keep rewatching The Road and The Book of Eli over and over again because everything else in this setting is really shitty
what the fuck is this
electricity just disappears and when you have some dumb pendant everything nearby turns on? i wrote a better story when I was in 3rd grade
Is this even relative to Deus ex ?

am i the only one who thinks the book of eli was a really silly and stupid movie that handled the subject of religion about as delicately and thoughtfully as a baboon on PCP wielding a truncheon

it's better than the show in the OP that's for sure
I bet it'll cancel within a season. Or there might a real revolution.
It'll be another cult program like everything else Abrams seems to make, shit maybe for once the peple that are making it'll figure that their shit loses viewers extremely fast and not leave it as a cliffhanger like they did with Alcatraz.

It's not an apocalypse if everyone didn't suddenly become dumb as bricks.

Wow that show was pretty good, really short though.
Also, losing food and the like would be the least of your worries, especially in America. With no power provided, almost every single nuclear reactor would melt down. 85% of Americans live within 50 miles of a nuclear reactor. Almost the same numbers in Europe. If every single reactor melted down simultaneously the fallout would be devastating.

Also, for those of you who wonder why the plane didn't glide and just fell out of the sky, the answer is that turning off electricity will also turn off the laws of physics and aerodynamics as we know it, so planes can no longer glide.

And if all the power and batteries turned off, how the hell are they filming this with the camera?

your last point
it's not a documentary its a tv drama???
In conclusion-
The acting was terrible
The Science nonexistent
The Characters too clean
And the trailer gave everything away.
Just bring back Firefly instead.

If I was put in a locked room and forced to explain it I would guess that modern weapons and ammo require electricity to make in the first place and in some cases repair. It's not like you can just keep making bullets and after 15 years of chaos the bullets were just used up whereas flintlocks and their bullets were made through pure metallurgy and wood with no electricty required.

Would have been nice to see something similar to the Metro 2033 bastard rifle though.
it doesn't even have anything involving the grey death, illumanati, majestic 12, not even AUGMENTATIONS. you'd think there would be something about the dentons. this seems to be more like an excuse to make some twilighty-post apocalypse scenario.
Yeah, I couldn't suspend my disbelief through the whole trailer. I can only see the explanation being stupid. It has to be one of these:
1. Some mastermind gained some extraordinary power and intentionally made technology devolve to a certain level. (fucking stupid)
2. Aliens (fucking stupid)
3. ~MAGIC~ (really fucking stupid)
They had a chance to make something really cool, but unless there's somehow an interesting explanation for everything that's wrong with the setting, this is going to be too cringe-worthy to watch by anyone with half a brain (so it'll probably end up ridiculously popular like everything stupid on TV).
If the characters used at least a few of the previously mentioned modern, non-electric things like guns and bicycles, I'd give this a chance, but flintlocks and horses? Guns and bikes are lying around all over the place; I'd think even if they were collected up and hoarded somewhere, at least the powerful guys would have access to them.
Not only did Deus Ex have multiple endings, but this doesn't feel like Deus Ex at all anymore. It reminds me of Crysis 3 mixed with Twelve Monkeys a bit.
