New Show "Revolution" Picks up where Deux Ex Left Off

So... what, conventional firearms just stopped working? Seriously?
Considering the fact that there are more guns in the United States than men, women and children, I find it rather ridiculous that they've reverted back to muskets, bows and swords. You don't need electricity to operate a firearm, and you certainly don't need it to pack your own ammunition.
All the other crap aside, reactors are designed extremely carefully so as not to do exactly this. A reactor's control rods are forced into place by gravity and/or a passive spring if the electrical current holding them up fails. A modern reactor can cool itself on convection alone assuming nothing else happens to it.

Also, modern guns would require electricity and complicated factories to produce the precise ammo they require. For old timey guns, all you need to do is melt metal into a ball.
As for the rest of it, it is pretty dumb, yeah.
Bullocks. I've packed my own ammunition before, and simplistic guns from the late 1800's/early 1900's use ammunition that's rudimentary enough to be molded from molten lead/copper. Sure, it might not meet modern ballistic standards, but it would work.

That's what I said.

Last time I checked, the US has a shit ton of ammo and guns lying around. I don't think they would come even close to dwindling after only 15 years, with all the people dying in the first few years.
I feel bad because the only person here who said they liked Jericho also said this looks good.
I really enjoyed Jericho, but this has plot holes so fucking big you could push a steam engine through them. Why the hell do batteries not work any more? What about dynamos (those hand-cranked generators you can make with copper wire and refrigerator magnets)? Does no one have diesel or gasoline engines? Not even the military? What about solar power? Or hydroelectric power? Or wind power? And what happened to modern guns? Why can't we use those? And why can't new electronics be made? Did everyone suddenly forget any and all electrical engineering? Did all the electrical engineers suddenly die and every piece of documentation ever written about electrical engineering spontaneously combust?
I think I'll pass on this, and continue rewatching The Book of Eli, The Road, The Walking Dead, and Jericho, waiting for more GOOD post-apocalypse series and films to be made.
that plus, why does it suddenly all go civil war level tech? Seriously, what the hell?

Agreed, my Grandfather used to press .357 Magnum and .38 Special rounds for his Smith & Wesson.
But I guess they wanted an excuse to use Smoothbore Muskets. Which is strange since that takes all suspense when using it. "Oh no! You missed me! Now take 45-60 seconds reloading the thing while I run up and murder you easily."

We really do, the freaking sporting goods store near me has more ammo than you'd see in 8 playthroughs of Left 4 Dead or something, and I'm from a relatively small town.
Deus Ex ending in the OP always felt like it was the best one.

If you think the show has competent writers you could watch it and find out for sure.
Huh, that's funny, a few days ago me and a friend were thinking of apocalyptic situations and she came up with all of the electricity in the world going out, mostly just like this. After a while we realized it'd be a pretty crappy apocalypse seeing as life would go on pretty normally, just with some changes to daily life. We didn't count cars or planes or anything, though.
Anyway, Show looks okay. They definitely gave away way too much in the teaser, and I don't really see how it has ANYTHING to do with Deus Ex.
Another post apocalyptic movie.
It doesn't even make sense. Even if all electricity related things vanish, humanity still has the knowledge and resources to get atleast some power back before civilization falls in ruin.
I think you mean TV show.
Supertribute's avatar accurately describes how I feel about this upcoming show.

Honestly I think the show is going to be shit. But I wasn't talking about the show, I was just saying that that ending for Deus Ex was pretty good. Also like it even more after beating all of the games and knowing that you get to completely destroy the illuminati.
Why are the only guns available muskets? Modern guns are almost entirely mechanical?
What dumbass wrote this? There are so many inaccuracies even the average person could figure this shit out without any understanding of technology. I can suspend my disbelief if it's not trying to be serious, but it is trying so very hard to be serious and it just falls flat. If the just maybe tried taking the piss out of it a little bit, it might be better. But as it stands, I think ti's pretty retarded.

The [sp]AI merging[/sp] was the best one

Just like the ending to mass effect 3 at least. Let's hope the new ending scenes deliver when we know what happens to the characters.

I actually put myself off from completing the game as of yet because of that reason.
dentons reaction after this
"what a shame"
i know its used alot, could't resist this one
;35961191']Reminds me of both Jericho and Flashforward, both of which were rather good. I think I'll watch this.

Not really. A very large EMP, like, say, from the sun, could in theory fuck up all of our electrical components so bad that it simply can't be repaired without fucking shit tons of work.
Yes, but electricity would still work. Batteries would still work.
Like most series with a interesting concept
Its fun for the first 1-2 seasons (or episodes) but it gets rather bored after that.
Only exception i know is Game of Thrones

well shit, I guess the Cubs winning the World Series really is a sign.
As someone who lives in Chicago this made me laugh quite hard.
The [sp]AI merging[/sp] was the best one
Not really, in invisible war merged JC still doesn't control the world.
i dat sum gus?
Oh hai plot holes!
Dara O'Briain gives us a scientific explanation.
