this is not a very healthy way of looking at ethics regardless of your stance on veganism man
He's right though The cows dead and gone ..so either someone else will eat it anyway or it will get thrown in the dumpster rendering the cows death utterly useless Staring at the steaks is a little late to start worrying. I do understand it all and i dont mind about (normal) veggies and vegans it just come across to me as "unless your a really really good necromancer you cant save it ......so you want that last T-bone or should i get it instead?"
I never understood veganism, you're just refusing to eat meat that someone else is going to eat anyway.
I mean it is technically sound and everything... If you think about the energy lost feeding crops/vegetables to the animals when we can just use the resources to grow crops/vegetables for human consumption.
He looks like the vegan and bike riding version of Nightcrawler dude.
Maybe the someone else would eat it argument, but you're completely misunderstanding the "it'll go to waste otherwise" argument. They're not saying if you don't buy it, they're saying if you inadvertently buy it. You can't avoid just showing up as another consumer, if you throw it away it's already been paid for, for example in this guy's tragic pizza trauma. So no, it's a pretty logical thing to say. If you've ordered food and realize later it doesn't meet your moral diet throwing away the food doesn't help your cause because they've already made their money, they don't even know you threw it away, plus you're encouraging food waste.
That's a pretty uncommon case. Most vegans just don't end up ordering things they don't want to eat. Because it's not something they want to eat.
Someone should tell him that you neither rape, torture, or murder a cow to make cheese.
Honest question here, but aren't cows treated poorly where milk production is concerned? I mean, dairy cows have to be pregnant to make milk. If it's a male calf then it gets sent off and 2-3 months later it's on a trip to the abbitor to become veal. If it's female it gets sent straight into the milk making thing all over again.
That's a pretty uncommon case. Most vegans just don't end up ordering things they don't want to eat. It can happen for a variety of reasons from a non-vegan ingredient not being listed on the menu, the kitchen fucking up, etc, etc. Hell it's even what the OP is about.

If you want bread and salad together why not just get a salad and put croutons in it they are made literally for this purpose. [editline]23rd June 2016[/editline] And you can put WHATEVER you want in it so you know there's no DEVILISH, DASTARDLY, and DEMONIC cheese in it.

It's surprisingly easy to do

"Only in America Bro, who puts cheese in sauce?!" Every Pizza place I have ever worked in puts Parmesan cheese in the sauce. And I have worked at 4 place that serve pizza.
Fun fact if you cut a lettuce it emits chemicals to let other nearby lettuces know so they can prepare defenses. Granted said defenses are against bugs...
Fun fact if you cut a lettuce it emits chemicals to let other nearby lettuces know so they can prepare defenses. Granted said defenses are against bugs...
Is this true? because that would be really cool and interesting.
Is this true? because that would be really cool and interesting.
Yeah plants have defense mechanisms like that. Welp looks like it's time for vegans to eat salt.
Yeah plants have defense mechanisms like that. Welp looks like it's time for vegans to eat salt.
What do the other lettuces do when they get the message? Make themselves taste bad to insects? If so, why not just taste bad in the first place?
Fun fact if you cut a lettuce it emits chemicals to let other nearby lettuces know so they can prepare defenses. Granted said defenses are against bugs...
No fun source?
What do the other lettuces do when they get the message? Make themselves taste bad to insects? If so, why not just taste bad in the first place?
Probably a taste thing. The reason they don't taste bad all the time is the same reason why something like an octopus isn't constantly spitting ink. It's probably reliant on a type of limited resource that is stressful to produce. There's a genus of frogs that do the same thing. When they're in danger they play dead and their skin perspires a very foul tasting substance. They can't do it all the time though. Just like how an octopus can't spit ink 24/7.
