That's because the Tiger is an actual Tiger. Yes, it's an actual Panzerkampfwagen Tiger.
I thought there was only one in existence?
I thought there was only one in existence?
There are 7 Tigers in the world right now, 2 in France, 1 in Germany, 1 in England, 2 in Russia and 1 in the US. The Tiger in England (at the Bovington Tank Museum) is the only Tiger that still works, which is the one they're using in the movie. That's pretty awesome. And sad at the same time, because now I know all the explosions around it are going to be CGI
Still waiting for a good WWII movie from the German perspective.
Still waiting for a good WWII movie from the German perspective.
Generation War is a pretty good movie/mini-series.
Cross of Iron. One of the best war films made to date. Check it out.
Nobody should go into this expecting a 100% historically accurate and phenominal story. I'm just excited for this because they're actually using tanks for their proper roles, instead of dressing up a T-34-85 to look like something its clearly not. god, these nerds are so annoying. "guys look i know tanks" like children who just learned something in school and want everyone to know. no, don't give me "but I'm just pointing out inaccuracies!". no, nerd, you just like to spout your useless knowledge on the internet at every topical opportunity because irl everyone just rolls their eyes when you bring it up (someone had to say it) and really, who the fuck watches hollywood films for total pinpoint accuracy? that's why I read fucking books and watch documentaries ffs
Generation War is a pretty good movie/mini-series.
Wow, I can't believe I've never heard about this. Its exactly what I've been looking for since band of brothers. Thanks man!
Cross of Iron. One of the best war films made to date. Check it out.
Will do, thanks!
can you explain what's going on in these pictures and why i should be enraged by them? besides the last one that is
Top bunch are Russian tanks made up to look like tigers, they aint that far off the real thing tbh. The bottom 2 are just Allied tanks with a bad guy paint job. Basically none of the are german tanks, thats all.

Like what the fuck are they even trying to do? It's up there with never reloading. Nicolas Cage in Windtalkers must shoot 25 rounds out of his 1911 before ever reloading the thing. And I don't mean oh there was a lull in the action enough for him to reload off screen, I mean he's seen in one scene shooting off 20 bullets. It just irks me
It's good to know the world has at least one person who cares so much about such a pointless topic how could they do that to the T-34s?! tank experts from months of playing world of tanks
Most of these posts I would usually expect to come out from Rusty.
It's good to know the world has at least one person who cares so much about such a pointless topic how could they do that to the T-34s?! tank experts from months of playing world of tanks
lmfao dood what tank nerde shat in your wheaties? Nobody's crying that they ruined T-34-85's or IS-2's by using them as movie props. People are just sayin it sucks that they're using T-34's and IS' as movie props instead of the actual tanks they're trying to portray. I honestly don't see why you give a fuck to begin with. [editline]29th August 2014[/editline]
Look, while i agree with you 100%. You gotta cut films of that time a lot of slack with regards to vehicle accuracy. The allies won the war and pretty much every single Allied tank was scrapped less than 10 years later, in 1977 A bridge too far could only get their hands on 5 working Sherman tanks, and even that was a stretch, the rest are all wooden prefabs and it cost an absolute fortune to make, it was only possible because the film had an astronomical budget for the time and it shows, they even built real working Horsa Gliders and there was and is None of them anywhere in the world after the war, let alone 30 years later. And even then they still used Sodding Pattons for the Axis. In the film PATTON they needed endless columns of tanks to fill the screen, even today they could not do it without CGI, at the time? they'd have about 5 Shermans tops. And maybe at a push a single Axis tank, most likely a Refurb T/34 Tiger. When it comes to AXIS tanks, good luck. Germany lost the war so most tanks were destroyed in battle, VERY few made it into a museum or private collectors, they sadly got scrapped. The real thing just didn't exist (well they did but they had no way of knowing where or how to find any, let alone having the money or the resources to rent and fix up, or get any substantial numbers) Simply put they had to compromise, hence paint the Big Patton Grey and the Small Chaffee Green and you got Tigers and Shermans, Paint the M3 halftrack grey or yellow and you got an SDKFZ, the average audience member of the time would be none the wiser nor care for the that matter. Anyway all that aside, I'm an extra in this film as a German soldier, I die though.
As far as the German tanks all being destroyed, thats not fully true. There were actually a bunch captured once the war ended. Most were either sold off to Arab countries, or kept by the allies for weapons testing. I know the French used a bunch of Panthers to test land mines and the Russians have still got Panzer IV husks sitting on their tank ranges.
