Obviously you can't stop violence, but you can have stricter laws on gun control, so people don't get shot and die. Guns quite easily kill people.

I refuse to disallow civilian ownership of firearms. With all the shit that's gone on in the government these days, especially the fact that an Internet Censorship Bill can even get past the first phase of lawmaking in this day and age, I'd truly prefer that if things get bad enough, the civilians CAN fight back and subjugate the government by force. Isn't that exactly what the founding fathers said? That if the government stops working and causes more harm to it's people than good, or strips away the freedoms the country originally stood for, that it's the duty of the people to escape or overtake this government and set things right? And given the United States is the single most powerful military force in the history of the human race, I have very few reservations about citizens owning weaponry of comparable power.
