Honestly, compared to CGI in recent years the CGI isn't that bad.
The broad area shots, from what is seen in the trailer looks fine. However, when you have the closeups of the CG there are glaring problems(see the baby scene), that make this feel disconnected.
Who's working on the practical effects? those armor pieces look like plastic
Surprisingly, it's Weta Workshop, the folks behind Lord of the Rings. Not their finest work it appears, though I wonder if it was their call to make the armor look like that. I think part of the problem is that the armor looks entirely too clean and perfect.
It can't get worse than the new fantastic four trust me.

I think it's less the prop-makers fault, and more a matter of the art style not making the transition gracefully.
The leaked footage with Gul'dan and the Dark Portal on Draenor looked great since it was almost entirely CGI. Everything else looks super awkward. Hopefully the final version isn't as bad.
I prefer this version anyway.

The dialogue sounds horrible and the human actors sound even worse saying them.
I don't have much hope for this but I wish it all the best so we can get to the plot of W3.

im still gonna go see it
if its bad, whatever that's par for the course with video game movies
if its good, fucking awesome
As a WoW player, I'd only see this if I got a mount or a pet or something cosmetic with my ticket.
Its not all CGI, which is probably why it looks so weird, humans in cartoonish prop armour against full cgi orcs.
I hope they sort most of these issues out, but i think its just a style clash that is really hard to get over. Hopfully the acting/story is strong enough to make people overlook that. Also worried because this trailer has the "best" cg bits and cut the even weirder parts from the full trailer.

I have a strong feeling they will do this.
I'm going to see it.
I'll do it for Bowie.
The thing is Blizzard are probably one of the best CGI makers out there, nearly all of their game trailers/cinematics are amazing, even going back as far as warcraft 3
This really does seem sub par for them, I can't help but wonder if they outsourced it some how
Industrial Light & Magic are doing the effects work. I'm not sure why it looks so subpar, unless they had their B team working on it while the top artists were doing Star Wars. Actually that makes a ton of sense
I wish they would just do it full cg and be done with it.
god this looks bad
Oh sweet baby Jebus, that cgi is fuckin' shit.
when i saw the official trailer in theaters it was pretty hype
the big screen and theater speakers made any bad cgi less obvious

i don't have high hopes for it but at least it'll be a fun action flick instead of uwe boll level garbage
I think I'd actually enjoy it disregarding CGI...if it wasn't for the storyline.
Pretty sure they never sided with humans here, unless this is some Metzen-tier alternate universe bullshittery.

i like travis fimmel so i'll see it for that specifically
I don't understand why they didn't go full CG like the game trailers. The pre-release clips for the film just look jarring to me with the combination of live action. I guess it might be cheaper to shoot live and then composite CG, but still.
Don't know how big the team was, but iirc Blizzard said it took them a year (might be wrong on this) to make the Wrath of the lich king cinematic. Now as i said, i dont know how big the cinematic team is but a 90+ minute cinematic sounds super expensive and like it has a superlong time to create.

Really? When I saw it on the theater the CGI was noticeably worse imo

Yeah, the story seems utter rubbish, like it's just loosely based on something that happened sometime during the Warcraft timeline, but really has nothing to do with it apart from the aesthetic and some shitty story slapped on to it.
While I agree that Durotan apparently siding with the humans is a bit iffy, I can forgive them somewhat purely because of the fact that it's something Durotan might actually would've considered in the official lore. Him and his clan were wholly opposed to Gul'dan and were exiled to Azeroth because they didn't want to doom their race to demonic enslavement.

I have a problem with the fact that the lore is already stated in the games and books. We know what happened, so why try and change it for the movie?
am I the only one who thinks the cgi is not that bad
i have no clue where you people are coming from
The worse thing about the film being it's set in an alternative timeline AKA - we couldn't be fucked to be consistent with Warcraft lore and wanted a floating Dalaran.
The worse thing about the film being it's set in an alternative timeline AKA - we couldn't be fucked to be consistent with Warcraft lore and wanted a floating Dalaran.
I'm guessing that's because your average Warcraft/WoW player wouldn't have played the two original Warcraft games, let alone read the books and actually have an understanding of how it all began. So they just went with what everyone is familiar with: a floating Dalaran, orcs that invade through Outland (not even Draenor; place already seems completely ruined in the trailers), regular human footmen, high elves...
Frankly anyone who's seen Blizzard try to explain how there is only one Legion for both timelines, and not strapped dynamite to thier chest and bought a one way ticket to Irvine, can probably tolerate a flying Dalaran.
