Wtf is the skeptical community? I google it but just got a bunch of stuff that promotes "critical thinking", which doesn't take a community to do, and then I saw a bunch of conspiracy/alien/etc type stuff. Very crtical.
A bunch of YouTubers such as Sargon of Akkad, TheAmazingAtheist, mrrepzion, Armoured Skeptic, Computing Forever, etc
Some of these youtubers' videos such as JaclynGlenn's and Mrrepzion's videos helped me a lot in the first few months when I left religion because it was nice to hear the experience of someone else who went through something similar to me (abandoned religion), but I don't watch many of their videos anymore.
We live in a time where a whole bunch of teens are adopting their political beliefs based on anti-SJW culture rather than based on actual issues. That's why you see seemingly left leaning people call themselves rightwing, because in their mind SJW is something that has taken over society and they are apart of the rational resistance, or "skeptical community".
Not saying you're lying, but it's only part of the truth, polarization is occurring with one side sjw opposed to anti-sjw in left leaning areas. Not including conservative parts of the US that have their own thing still going, though a republican can adopt the skeptic/anti-sjw life style.
I'd really recommend watching this video instead of subjecting yourself to the stupid drama directly

Did he disingenuously edit them though?
Edit: What is that video analysis? Quote, guy in the video "Proper news, also known for being called fake news said this." and he's done previous videos like "Milo Yiannopoulos Scandal: Live By The Sword, Die By The Sword" and "Why I Wish All Muslims Were White".

Try watching the videos you are confused by the title of then.
I don't know if you are trying to imply something about his videos but 2/3 of those are pretty obvious and the last one is obvious after 2 minutes of viewing.
I just remembered something I really hate about the "skeptic community"; many of them seem to hate colleges and universities a lot, and I have heard the term "adult daycare center" sometimes used to describe them because, you know, what we do in computer science is definitely the same stuff 3 year old children do in day-care centers!
Just because a few SJWs go to college (and mostly do really easy degrees) doesn't mean that everyone in college is an SJW.
This kind of thinking really angers me!
The "skeptic community" is just as whiny and quick to use generalizations as the SJWs that they criticize.

Watching it, he's improving after a while, better than Sargon and friends at least.
The Keks and Lulz is a better name for the Skeptic community, I agree with him.
That because here is no such thing as a left wing in USA.
You have the right wing and the not so right wing.
Also the "left-right" spectrum is pretty flawed, and a bad way to express one's ideology.
Are you suggesting that an Antifa twitter poster would post something misleading?
For reference that twitter poster basically condones Doxxing, as far as I have seen might have been involved in attempted doxxing, and calls Antifa a tactic.

Well it was tried once. Dude created a lot of social programs that enjoy near universal support and was re-elected 3 times.
Are you trying to imply the Democrats are leftist btw

He reasons may be petty and hypocritical, but continuing to hang around a bunch of glorified one-man tabloids and act like nothing is nothing is wrong wouldn't have made him any better of a person.
Skeptic channels in their infancy helped me a lot in forming my atheism.
Despite how imflammatory AmazingAtheist was, I managed to think a bit more about myself which is honestly a positive in my life.
Can't really care about the shit they produce nowadays though :v:

1) It's a joke
2) It's a joke
3) It's a joke
4) It's a joke with a point. Deflecting and acting like horseshoe politics isn't a thing because "America doesn't have a leftist party" is absolutely asinine. Here's a fun picture of the poster-boys for each end of the horse shoe:

Sorry, its hard these days to separate the satire from the shitposts made in earnest, especially when it comes to certain posters. What was the point?

I don't think that guy's argument had anything to do with the horseshoe theory. It was just mentioning the very obvious truth that America leans pretty far to the right, especially when compared to other first world countries. Democrats are fairly centrist in the grand scheme of things

Re-reading it you're probably right, sorry. Some discussion earlier was calling bs on horseshoe politics, so my brain was in that mode when I read that post and it was a little close to the whole true socialism has never been tried cliche.
Yes, that's why horseshoe theory is crap. People refer to the tactics as opposed to the ideologies which are very rarely similar at all.
Your last statement is simply wrong. The far right and far left are totally opposite on the vast majority of issues. What's an example where the right and left are closer in ideology than the center is to either?
Holy hell, an sgman1 post that I agree with wholeheartedly. The whole world is being turned on it's head.
But really, you are 100% correct on this. People peddling horseshoe theory as some great eternal truth of political thought is one of my biggest pet peeves, when in reality it's reductionist nonsense that smug self-righteous centrists use to reduce ideologies to their barest minimals.
I'll give you three examples
There is a shared emphasis on the collective will and collective culture of the community, whether it be the "workers community" or the "nation", abhorring the individuality, materialism and escapist culture that liberal democracy encourages
Both socialism and national socialism concern the collective population transcending class divide either on grounds of wealth or on grounds of loyalty to the state respectively.
And finally both extreme ends of the political spectrum manifested authoritarianism because both the far-left and far-right present themselves as unquestionable truths, systems that do not allow dissent in order to function, this consequently led to rule by authoritarian government
Can you clarify how you're defining the left/right divide? What core principles do you see as their defining factors?
I want to clarify because you are clearly referring to the European right/left, not the US right/left.
Horseshoe theroy is a bitch

So is this how not having history lessons in your educational system looks? Buddy, I strongly advise you to pick up a "history of WWI" series somewhere and delve deep into the minds of the two greatest killers of the XX century - the national and nationless socialists Hitler and Stalin. Both sides of the same coin.
Not a big fan of the anti swj peeps but I do watch thunderf00t. Glad he's seen sense here.
Says a lot that he lost 1000s of subscribers over criticising trump, criticising brexit and criticising the "skeptic community". He sticks to his guns.

They helped me (Including Amazing Atheist and DarkMatter2525) in my teen years to become "New" Atheist until their political bias and channel shaft with that garbage ruin it.
And because I'm was de facto Buddhist back of time, I had abandoned both Atheism and Buddhism altogether become short-lived Independent Wiccan (later Hellenist/Hellenic Neopagan in 2014 ever since) as result in around 2011 or 2012.
And no I'm not really making this up and this from my teenage years.
