One neat thing I noticed was the "Prometheus" lettering fades in the same style as the original Alien intro.
Psyched as FUCK
This times a million. Heart jumped when the 'space jockey' was in a shot.
Gif 17 is definitely the space jockey.
holy fucking shit i didnt even notice the guy standing there.
i thought they would look more . . . alien
Incorrect.
Uh Ridley was just quoted as saying there's no xenomorphs in the movie.

No. Absolutely not...no way am I going back there..."
Only space jockeys.
no shit stuff looks like crap from Alien
H.R Geiger is doing all that design shit
H.R. Giger is amazing with scifi stuff. I don't think I've ever seen someone able to make creepier cyber-alien art and design.
I mean, when I saw his work for the band Triptykon's debut album, I was just blown away.

I'll be damned if he doesn't look as creepy as his art, though...
Some people are saying it isn't an Alien prequel, others are saying it is, let me explain to clear up confusion.
This IS an indirect prequel to Alien, though either Ridley or H.R.Giger (I don't remember) said that Xenomorphs probably won't make an appearance or be the main antagonist becuase "the image is too over used and I want something new and exciting to give the audience a good scare."
Good to hear. As much as I love the xenomorphs, they've been so overexposed (and bastardized in a few recent titles) that they aren't scary anymore. The tension was what really made Alien scary anyway.

That looks like a very pale slimy man.
Space-Jockeys look like this:

Well they did in the comic books anyway.

Agreed.
Both Alien and Aliens were good films, but for very different reasons.
Alien was a slow-paced, atmospherically-charged, tense thriller. Aliens was a more standard marines vs aliens film. Between the two, I personally prefer Alien, simply because you don't see the slow-paced, tense thrillers done well that often these days. Here's hoping Prometheus, if it's going to be similar to either film, will be closer to Alien than Aliens.
Aliens was a more standard marines vs aliens film.
Was Aliens the first of that type of film? If so, I wouldn't call it standard.

I'm pretty sure he is talking about the person in the chair, not the bald guy.

The comics were apparently non-canon
Also can anyone get a gif or a screen grab of the end bit with the title where the static happens, I'm sure I saw something in it.
Did everyone else "miss" these?
0:29 looks awfully alot like the egg chambers from Alien - It even has egg-ish shaped metal cylinders
0:30 we get a close up of those egg-ish things.
0:31? His helmet is being destroyed by some type of acid
I checked, it's just static.
Yeah I had a look just after I posted since I thought it looked like a quick flash of the ship from the original space jockey ship from Alien, but it turned out to just be static.

There's no human derivatives, but the Alien isn't constrained to humans, and never has been. The Alien will be in the movie, not the Alien, and it was never supposed to be.
First The Hobbit, now this, I only have a limited number of nerdgasms goddamnit.
It just hit me. Noomi Rapace! This film will be amazing.
I want to have hope for this because I bloody love the Alien franchise (except the 3&4 and the fucking stupid avp bullshit) but with all the terrible prequels, sequels, remakes and reboots happening recently I'm not holding my breath.
