ITT: Sore americans and pompous british people arguing about an incredibly dumb topic.
ITT: you go back to 4chan
Derren Brown?! Is that you?!
That guy is my hero for actually spitting that out without even taking a moment to think about it.

Um this isnt anything special. Should be common knowledge to everyone...
I would have liked to hear their reaction if the same answer was given in a thick southern accent.
I have a feeling that if it was said in that kind of accent, he'd either get bombarded with comments like "Stupid hick, you just looked that up on Wikipedia/Google!" or "I bet that hick's the smartest american EVER!" It could go either way, really.
This is why I wish I had a British accent here in America, then I wouldn't actually have to prove my intelligence, rather just talk.
Yes, that rumour is completely true here.
america today: dumb
america during the 18-19 century, due to immigrants moving to america for better life = smart.
You are generalizing an extremely large group of people, while there are idiots, there are some real geniuses. People claim that Americans are generally dumb and have no idea how other countries like the UK work. Well I've seen a video of some guy going around asking people in the UK about America and they were just as clueless. It really doesn't matter if you are American or not, it's a country with a huge population and you just can't generalize it like that.
I want the Wilhelm scream in my TF2.
Because everything sounds smart in a British accent.
It's true
A thread about a simple video, derailed into a redundant flame war about "NO MY COUNTRY IS BETTER!"
Whether America/Britain is smart or dumb, you can always rest assured that facepunch is fucking stupid
Evidenced by this thread
Right, ignore all previous inventions needed in technically everything today from America.
Nope, no one is smart in America.
:bandwagon:
Newton, Joule, Dalton and Darwin were british.
Thomson was irish.
Bohr was danish.
Tesla was serbian.
Maxwell was scottish.
Leibniz, Kepler and Einstein were german.
Marie Curie was polish.
Gallileo and Devinci were italian.
Schroedinger was australian.
America has done many wonderful things for science but to even try to pretend that it is the primary center for scientific growth is ridiculous. I'm not even from any of these countries, so can we put the patriotism away for a thread?
Wasn't Godard an American he help make the liquid fueled rocket?
[editline]24th October 2010[/editline]
Or actuality make the first liquid rocket
I imagined a man dressed as a Gentlemen and wearing a top hat saying this
I also like how people in this thread Judge the U.S as a whole. You'll find drastically smarter or more retarded people depending on what state you go to. As far as the British people go; I personally know some people British people who don't even know what countries belong to the U.K or for what it stands for. So as far as idiots go in the U.K they have them too.
He's probably been asked this question before, or already had that answer ready
The answer itself wasn't that complicated, it's the way he delivered it.
That guy is a winner.

I must make note to do this whenever that question is asked if I'm playing, I'm told I impersonate the Engineer pretty damn well.

Yup, there was also Edison, though he wasn't really all that smart. If I remember correctly, the break-through that created the first electric light-bulb was found by a man working UNDER Edison.
Another notable genius of American birth is George Charles Devol, Jr, inventor of the first industrial robot that revolutionized manufacturing world-wide (and put alot of angry Detroiters out of work :v:).
Okay...
Does anybody else find it a bit fishy that they actually recorded this?
What are then odds that the person recording was just spectating and he didn't have some friends say a bunch of stuff?

The source engine has a demo function, basically you can record huge amounts of gameplay without using much diskspace, there is also something called SourceTV which automatically records demo's and saves them on the server for the admins to download, Its not a coincidence or rigged.
I could never come up with something like that in under 5 seconds and say it flawlessly.

Canada hasn't done too much, being kinda new, but we did make the the space arm. Also we are good at staying outta the way.
