I still enjoyed it. It was a fun creepy trip.
that chicken
And that's perfectly valid, but I think that it's cheapened by the fact that you DO know that it's gonna get weird, and they don't play off of that at all.
You go in to the first one with no expectations. You're most likely linked to it by a friend that says "OMG you gotta check this out it's SO weird" and you watch the first ten seconds and see kid's puppets, and you think "alright, this is gonna be funny. There are kids puppets here, but this is the internet, so something's gonna happen." But you don't expect what's actually coming. You go in thinking that maybe one of the puppets might start swearing by the end of it. Then you finish the video and there's an animal heart covered in glitter.
Having watched the first one, you go in to the second one expecting weird. And you get it. And it's not really that different than the first one. And the third one's not that different either.
Maybe I'm just too critical, but when I watch the sequels all I see is wasted potential. It feels like they don't understand exactly what made that first one so good. The next two are sorta good and in a vacuum they do what the first video did just as well, but they don't exist in a vacuum. You go in having seen the first one and with your expectations influenced by the first one, and they don't do anything to play with your expectations. They just do what the first one did again, just in a different way.
This one did have a few false starts at going batshit - the glimpses of the raw chicken, or squashing the "pesky bee", or even the animated bit with the ugly kid. It kept making you think "alright, this is where it goes bugfuck", but then it doesn't.
I do agree that they could have done it better, and that they should find new ways to creep you out, but they definitely are adapting somewhat to the audience's increasing savviness.
I thought it was pretty good.
My sister's gonna shit herself when she learns that there's a new one.
I'm wondering if having this one not end like the last two might have been a way of the creators trying to be unexpected? Like, we all expected weird, but going into it, I was expecting an ending similar to the previous two in that it would end sort of gory? Like there was an animal heart covered in glitter and stuff in the first one, and then the clock ages them until they fall apart in the second one. But it didn't really get gory, other than the chicken and that pesky bee. It was a bit softer in it's weirdness, and I'm wondering if that was supposed to be the twist. But at the same time, though it could be my expectations influencing it, it also felt like it built up to be freakier.
pesky bee
I don't see why people are clamouring for more creepy/weird stuff. That's not why I watch these.

I watch it for the creepy/weird stuff.
I personally enjoyed this one more than the first two. This song is quite lovely.
this is not ok
Oh shit, you can see the Notebook from the first DHMIS and the Clock from the sequel at around 4:41. And the two main characters (the one looking for the yellow guy).

OH, and the yellow guys dad.

That was a bit disappointing, really. There were a few things that seemed like they would be involved in the creepy part (like the chicken) but they weren't. It didn't really get as bad as the other two videos, either. It also would of been better if it had involved all the main characters rather than just one of them.
Nowhere near as good as 1 or 2.

True that, we didn't have as much of a massive tipping point as the last two. First one had "Get Creative" with the fuckin' meat cake and the heart dipped in glitter, second one had the characters ROTTING ALIVE near the end, and the closest thing to the "Bugfuck Singularity" came with the introduction of the King.
While the first two had a larger ramp-up, the third seemed a bit flatter, starting off with a few peaks then starting to plateau a bit with stuff like the "HARDER" Dog and the Ugly Kid. Not as much buildup, more like shooting one's guns a bit earlier than before.
that bee thing in the end with the tongue is fucking disgusting
Loved it. I feel they've found a new aesthetic after the first one and I'm enjoying the ride.
[sp]The fact that the baby butterfly called him daddy means he was impregnated so I think because he turns out to be sitting there he's just having a flashback to something that happened to him? Which is kinda depressing cause he got molested by a cult.[/sp]
How do you not like these
even though it's predictable that they go dark each episode I look forward to it.

also they have really good hidden meanings
I think this was just as good as the others, but for different reasons. It's not outright disturbing like the other two got, but instead went for a more subtle creepiness throughout the whole thing.
Honestly I'd be more disappointed if they did it like the other 2, DHMIS isn't the kind of thing you can do the same thing over-and-over again, you gotta mess with the viewer in a different way each time.
I think this was at least better than the Creativity one. At the end, it was just hamfisted "look at all this shit flashing by you its really gross eh?"
This one felt a lot more surreal, and still almost believable as something that would be in a super early morning kids program.
All of them are good but whats the point in shitting on the new one?
I feel like people look at these wrong. They seem to think that the only purpose these videos have is to shock the viewer with unexpected darkness, but really only the first one is like that.
The sequels knew they couldn't top it, so instead they tried to include messages. The second was more vague, but the message in this one is pretty clear; it is bashing religion, cults, and indoctrination. When they talk about love, they specifically mention "its between a man and a woman and that's the way it has to be" which is jabbing at homophobia that stems from religion. It is also bashing how religion takes away self-identity by giving you a rigid set of "rules" you must follow.
I liked it, but not as much as the second one. Still, I enjoyed it better than the first which, while good on the first viewing, is too much of a one trick pony to stay relevant. The fact that the subsequent videos actually have themes and meaning makes them "stick" much longer.

I agree, though I gotta say that 1 had a good message too, about how society "encourages" creativity, but only the type of creativity they deem fit.

I think any of them had a message besides just being dark subversions of typical children's show topics
It gets weirder and weirder
Is it wrong I was reminded of Yellow Submarine throughout this.
I really liked this, more than the second one.
I love how they're all so well made and all have meaning and a message behind them.
I remember two years ago I wrote a paper on the first one for my English class and gave a presentation to the class.
Needless to say, anyone who wasn't convinced I was crazy was after that.
FATHER!
OH JESUS CHRIST
The extended pause when the bird talked about them finishing their chicken dinner was also pretty odd. It's kind of funny in an awkward way, like the long pause whilst the notepad drops tar shit down the yellow one's painting in the first episode.
