There are zero reasons in this day an age to use zsnes,that's why I asked for a reason because I was curious as to why people still use it
Zsnes may have been fine years ago but it stopped development ages ago and other SNES emus have surpassed it in pretty much everything.
Snes9x is great and your best option if your pc isnt that great but higan/bsnes is king for SNES emulation, zsnes is basically a relic of the past and should be treated as one.

It's probably the same thing that's kept Project64 around for so long. There was a surge of interest in emulation during the mid-00s when it could still hold up against other emulators and some people never moved on from that point.

The Problem is Project 64 is still "basically" required for super mario 64 hacks.

From what I can tell, unlike SNES, in which most emulators can get down pretty damn well, N64 emulating is a lot more finicky and harder to emulate due to the N64 having more weird shit. Project 64 (prior to the malware update) is still one of the best ways to getting those games to run. I'm probably completely wrong, but this is what I know from prior years of emulating.

In terms of compatibility pj64 is still the best n64 emulator. There's mupen64plus which has more compatibility issues though it will do you just fine for most games
For what's its worth pj64 is open source now and there are plenty of way to get it without resorting he the malware installer.
I hope that Vinesauce DOOM map contest happens. Joel's been constantly teasing it and I'm hoping this recent stream of classic doom stuff is encouraging it.

XSplit just doesn't work with it for him, keeps crashing the game.
Pretty sure he said on Twitter that he played it on his own, wasn't streamed due to above issue.
