I personally think the level looks quite cool, though it still looks a bit bland. The terrain of the previous Halo games used to change quite frequently which made it less boring. I will still buy this game, but I hope this doesn't become a generic and dull linear shooting game. It better have a good storyline as well.
this isn't the first dull looking level in a halo game
remember half the arbiter missions in halo 2?

I actually thought those looked pretty cool.
i love the metroid prime feeling of it
[editline]30th September 2012[/editline]
it's really metroid primish now
right down to orange guns and space pirates(prometheans?)
i think a halo and metroid prime combo would be amazing imo
Only main problem I see is that the weapon covers about 1/4 of your screen, and with the user interface it gives me less view of my surroundings (which I enjoy more than the viewmodel).
Another problem (though it's just me being picky) is that there's no real feeling to the weapon being fired, or any control other than shooting, reloading and hitting a button to do an amazing kill animation.
I have to admit, apart from the stuff I'm real picky on, it looks really nice.

Or the Library from Halo: CE. Or the mission from Halo 3 where you're rescuing Cortana. Every game needs the dull/frustrating mission.
From what I've seen, they've picked one of the more boring (at least in aesthetics) levels, as they were some really colourful and vibrant environments in some of the previous vidocs (just think about the Campaign Reveal at E3). Still, this appears to be one of the earlier levels, so let's hope things get better when it progresses, which I feel it will.
That was pretty good, although it does seem like they picked a fairly boring level. I don't like the new covenant weapon sounds or the banshee enter and exit animations, and the music didn't seem as memorable as other games (i hardly noticed it but it might just be that track) but other than that I'm really looking forward to this.
One key thing I dislike about this, is that, the fact that they basically are bringing new weapons into the game that look practically NOTHING like they did in the first three games. Hell, they looked more similar in Reach than they do in this game. And another thing, why no over-shields? That is like Halos' thing, why take it out? Overall, I think 343 should've done better. The multiplayer, looks amazing. The campaign, not so much.

Thats an oxymoron.
New guns that look nothing like they did in the previous games.

This is 5 years later, there are new weapons on both sides of the war, new variants of the weapons we all know and love, same goes for vehicles.
Hell, they looked more similar in Reach than they do in this game
. Well of course they do, Reach's technology was based on prototype technology for future variants of weapons, the time span between Reach and Halo 3 is about 5 and a half months. Now that the war is over both sides had time to finish, mass produce, and distribute the next series of technology to their military branches.

So you are basing your opinion of Halo 4's campaign based off the a preview of one level that was a bad example to show off to the public as a preview? It was dark, the difficulty was set to easy and it barely showed off any of the new or improved engine features.
Check out the other campaign gameplays or clips.
i wish multiplayer had that metroid vision too
imo it looks great and it adds alot to the feel
