I had an idea about putting some kind of sensor on it and making it contactless, it'd probably work a lot better but it turns out there already is stuff similar to it. It'd be interesting to see those two combined anyway, would probably cost a stupid amount of money too.

Probably not as good as an actual quality turntable but at least functional and without scratching the vinyl. The first step would be to get the needle pressure right and not fucking push it against the groove.

They don't work on any colored records, picture disks, or if there happens to be a spec of dust anywhere on the record.
i'm willing to bet the people who bought it feel like geniuses too put this in department stores and i guarantee it will sell and they'll make a profit. think about how many god awful crosleys get sold? now imagine if it had a gimmick to lure people in too.
The price though. I feel people will be more receptive to buying a $90 Crosley than a $90 (Yes that is what they're charging for these) Rokblok.
Someone a while ago said this device would be a good thing to take to a record shop to "Listen before you buy". I bet you would get kicked out the instant the owner saw this thing running around a record.

This is the best record player ever for the guy who is now 700,000$ richer for ripping off a 60s toy

This piece of shit can't even do that lol
i gave my dad a crosley for xmas. it does the job and it does it better than this. wich i asume its not really a good thing to say now.

Damn he got played like a RokBlok on vinyl.
think about how many god awful crosleys get sold? now imagine if it had a gimmick to lure people in too.
I don't know what this means.
he's referring to these crosley briefcase record players you see sold at mainstream stores, like century 21 or barnes and noble [t]https://target.scene7.com/is/image/Target/13978424?wid=520&hei=520&fmt=pjpeg[/t] they're notorious for fucking records up by having too much tracking pressure
I dont know man. my grandfather has a Crosley and it doesnt really wreck records..
i gave my dad a crosley for xmas. it does the job and it does it better than this. wich i asume its not really a good thing to say now.
as a christmas gift for your dad, you broke all his records good job hero [editline]8th January 2018[/editline]
I dont know man. my grandfather has a Crosley and it doesnt really wreck records..
older crosleys aren't too bad, it's the new l-3 communications ones that break shit

what is the point of the rokblock anyway? it doesn't have the gimmick of the van running over a Vinyl, and it sounds just as shit.
Why the fuck were people coming out of the woodwork to defend this?
what is the point of the rokblock anyway? it doesn't have the gimmick of the van running over a Vinyl, and it sounds just as shit.
~on the go~
Why the fuck were people coming out of the woodwork to defend this?
They don't want to admit they fucked up in thinking this would be good
Why the fuck were people coming out of the woodwork to defend this?
buyer's remorse
~on the go~
Imagine someone bringing his Chainsmokers record on the public bus and he busts this motherfuckin thing out to listen on the go
Imagine someone bringing his Chainsmokers record on the public bus and he busts this motherfuckin thing out to listen on the go
It will probably fall off and cut a hole into the floor
It will probably fall off and cut a hole into the floor
Hey I think the SWAT have finally found a new breaching tool!
what is the point of the rokblock anyway? it doesn't have the gimmick of the van running over a Vinyl, and it sounds just as shit.
**hipsters** I still can't understand what's so hard about dragging the stylis instead of grinding it into the disk. Ya the turning is affected but this is 2018, you're telling my you can't make a grove following electric whatchadohickey with all the circuits onboard this thing as it is? Granted that would require a bit more design but the design of this thing is just awful to begin with and needed more itteration
What is weird is it looks like the soundwagon drags the needle behind the front wheel. The rokblock seems to just drive the needle into the record. I wonder if there's some patent thing they couldn't get around while ripping off the design so they just "made it work" for this dump scam
**hipsters** I still can't understand what's so hard about dragging the stylis instead of grinding it into the disk. I don't understand who would use this. People who play records, I assume, do so for the specific sound it provides. Similar to the people who swear by vacuum tubes. Anything that even has a chance of producing substandard sound, seems like a waste of time. Especially when you could get something like this: If you were really desperate for a portable record playing solution. At that point though, seriously, you can just use digital formats.
Imagine someone bringing his Chainsmokers record on the public bus and he busts this motherfuckin thing out to listen on the go
it's chainsmokers, so if anything the rokblok would actually improve the sound
