What Nintendo Fucked Up With The Switch So Far (The Jimquisition)
The supposed overpricing of the hardware is also really mind boggling in my eyes, an Xbone or PS4 costs 500+ dollars new and you're complaining about the Switch costing a mere 50 dollars more than a 3ds? It's really entitled sounding. The Switch is not supposed to be treated as the next 3DS, it's a home console first, they already said everything they wanted to say in the initial announcment, so why the hell should they focus on the portability when elaborating on the console as a whole?
The controllers cost 80 dollars as a pair, and? A new Xbone or PS4 controller costs around sixty, and The Switch controllers and dock come with the console. The only valid complaint is the Pro controller, and even then, the industry as a whole is overpricing its controllers.
And what the fuck is it about complaining about the graphics of Zelda and Mario? People are saying it looks like shit and I don't really see it at all? Is a stylized game just automatically shit now? I'm very confused about that.

Personally I like the artistic style, but I doubt the lack of proper texture filtering (very obvious even at Youtube 720p) is a stylistic choice. The graphics are - compared to the competition - pretty shit. Whether they're bad enough to be a problem is more of an individual assessment, because obviously many people don't care that much, while other people definitely do care. The issue is that as a home console the Switch doesn't really move the bar all that much, because as DF describes it, BotW looks great on the built-in display.
The fact that you promote it as a home console first is kinda backwards, because in that mode it really doesn't impress all that much. And sure, the Xbone was $500 at launch, the PS4 was $400, but now both of them are available for less than the Switch with a bundled game. Nintendo can't simply say "look they launched at prices higher than the Switch!" because no one cares about the price at launch, they care about the current price. Same goes for the controllers, just price them equally then - Nintendo's giving themselves shit PR for $10 a controller. Personally I think Nintendo needs to be careful not to move itself into the Wii U position again where it has an underpowered console with little third party support, because it isn't gonna work out better the second time around.
It's not like I have a horse in the race, though, I don't own either console, but as an outsider, Nintendo's decisions are a bit mind boggling to me. The games and the console may be excellent, who knows, but their way of doing things seem off.
It wouldn't surprise me if the reason why everything about the switch is so expensive is because they are trying to get back their losses from the Wii U.
That's not how that works, Nintendo. That's not how any of this works.
I could understand the console's price, but the accessories', online service's and game's prices are insane. There's literally no reason not to include 1-2 Switch with every Switch for instance.
I can somewhat understand the price of the controller due to all the hd rumble/nfc reader/whatever bullshit they added into them, but why the fuck is a dock 90 goddamn dollars?
I'll get more angry at the paid online when I find out more about it.The controllers prices are ridiculous but not a deal breaker for me.Overall it just looks like a really fun console and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Honestly, I'm good and angry now. I've used Nintendo's online service to hell and back on 3DS, Wii, and Wii U, and it has CONSISTENTLY been garbage. Rampant disconnection issues, time between sessions is WAY too long compared to other consoles.
If Nintendo wants to start charging me a subscription for the PRIVILEGE of using their service, they need to pull a fucking 180 on their service before they start charging everyone.
I was interested in that whole "getting NES/SNES games" thing....until I learned its practically just a rental period. I mean seriously....what the fuck were they thinking? Nintendo for god's sake, step up your game.
I still want the Switch, but there's no doubt that their conference severely hampered my expectations for it.
