Whats with all these impressive cinematographers working on these black musicians music videos. They have some sick ass connections I guess.
I mean just look at Thundercat, Flying Lotus, Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler the Creator, Kendrick Lamar etc.
Sometimes the video is more impressive than the music to me.
also i am no rap expert but I don't see how anyone can say hip hop is dead or whatever when you guys are getting shit like this. It seems like rap music is in another golden era. Rock music is one thats in a big slump in my opinion right now.

It can be interpreted in a number of ways. Probably the most obvious way is to show that he is on top of the rap game, because you can visually see that he is "above" everyone else in the music video. This conforms with his declaring himself King of both East and West-coast hip hop and Dr. Dre and the Game passing him the torch. It could be reference to the higher plane of existence he inhabits thanks to the hiiiPOWER movement and how that affected his life, giving him a more positive, elated life. It also ties in with the belief that as a successful black man, Kendrick is a target. Him flying through the air and perching on street lights makes him seem like a bird, which is an easy target for hunters, such as the policeman with the shotgun at the end, to kill, which he ends up doing.
Truthfully, there is never a right answer to interpreting lyrics or visual media, especially with an artist as talented and deep as Kendrick Lamar. These are just possibilities that you may or may not accept.
