All I want to know is how the FUCK they managed to get Kilmonger to voice the main character.
They have money. Maybe he's also a fan of RT stuff.
Apparently they've been working on it since well before Black Panther. Michael B. Jordan is a weeb so he was probably on board from the start. It's gonna be weird seeing him (probably) be on the RT Podcast and stuff. It's apparently being co-produced by his own company as well.
If their previous animation proves, they don't have any money. Or at least they aren't investing it properly. He's probably doing it because he's a fan.
According to the RT podcast, they approached Michael for the role. They had always considered him and even used him as the base for concept art for the character. They never thought they would get him though. this was before black panther and before they knew he was an anime fan.

They have money, not talent. For gods sakes they had to do all their animation in a video game for their main series since forever. They hired Monty to do Pcap and suddenly thought they were a professional studio who could do legit CG animation. Pretty much all of their in-house animation looks like absolute shit because they don't hire professionals, just community members with hobbies.
Proving once again that "We're friends and are having fun!" isn't enough to get a quality project out.
The fans still eat it up though
Haven't been a fan of RvB since season 6 ended, but the moment CGI showed up later, that's when i knew the series was dead to me.
The current season is hilarious.
Haven't watched since season 10, so i wouldn't really know. Personally, I stopped caring once it started having a plot about AI or something.
Let's be fair here, if he had made his own site they wouldn't have taken off as well.
Thats a retarded claim because Rooster Teeth wasn't on youtube until 2008, 3 years after Youtube took off and 5 years after RT started, and RT was a well established business by that point. RT diversified themselves by placing themselves on youtube, along with selling merchandise. The diversification of their assets and brand is what allowed RT to survive with ad-pocalypse going on right now. Gavin's failure to do so is whats going to kill is revenue off of his slowmo channel. Assuming that the only avenue to internet success is via youtube or other popular media sites is dumb and is a big reason why growth is so stunted as it is. Content creator's refusal to set up their own place on the web that they own is why so many fail, despite the fact it's never been easier to create and manage your own website for dirt cheap. Youtube is a good way to start yourself but not a good way to keep expanding on your media.
For one, starting off with calling the claim retarded is bad form, I'd advise against that in future. Now then, the only reason why RT kicked off so massively was because of RvB. They had a base that was built up from something that nobody had done before and they also got advertised by Bungie themselves not long after starting. SMG was not as groundbreaking of a thing as one of the first machinimas for one of the most popular games at the time. My point was stated clearly, they wouldn't have taken off as well because of the lack of 'wow' factor or being as searchable. You seem to agree with this point already when you said "Youtube is a good way to start yourself but not a good way to keep expanding on your media." I did not assume that the only avenue to success is via youtube, but those nice youtube endorsements certainly help. Not to mention him and Dan can always fall back to Rooster Teeth's video service along with the merch they already produce. Gavin may act like an idiot but he's certainly not dumb.
The more I watch things with Steven Suptic in it, the more I'm convinced that his Sugar Pine 7 persona is not a character.
The SP7 guys are, from what I've heard about them from the other RT personalities, 90% of the time in character.
lol wow its almost like everything I said was correct wow RVB was not the first Machinima, nor was it even the first Machinima series. Calling RVB groundbreaking is just silly. RT were the ones to get popular because they had their corner of the web and that corner allowed them to foster a community and build a social media platform. No one else did that because they were posting their videos to albinoblacksheep or ebaums world. And thats what Gavin is doing. He's relying on the coattails of the RVB community sites and youtube's fickle platform. "searchable" is not what got RVB going. People weren't looking for a Halo comedy series made by a bunch of amateurs. RVB got shared by the people who found it. Assuming that SMG's couldn't be done the same way is just dumb. No internet based content needs to start out on youtube, and doing that can severely stunt your growth. You know how Gavin could avoid the trouble hes going through now with demonetization, age gating, ad-pocalypse, ect. ? By hosting his videos on his own website and choosing the advertisers on his own without youtube taking a cut from him. Gav being on the side of a bus in London helps grow his brand but ultimately he's still based entirely on a google platform that is subjugating his income due to the whims of AI. Gavin knows a lot about filmmaking but he's a genuine retard in most other aspects, including how to maintain an internet brand.
SMG has almost 2 million more subscribers then the RT channel.
“One of” is what I said, that does not imply that it was the first. The first machinima that grew popular was in Quake called Diary of a Camper. It wasn’t even a video but a shared demo. RvB was groundbreaking and to call it otherwise is just silly. Back in the day being searchable was huge. You didn’t have some algorithm to suggest videos to you. You’d have people go on Google or Yahoo, type in “halo”, and see what came up. The most curation you’d get was from forums or friends but how do you think they came across the content? Having RvB tied to such a widely known brand was how they shot off like they did. If Gavin and Dan started uploading videos to their own site they would not have had the same exposure as YouTube provided. Not to mention they would also have to invest money into the site and hosting for something that Gavin did in his free time. You suggest Gavin could get off Youtube and onto his own site but I don’t think you quite thought about what that means. He would lose out on the majority of viewers that wouldn’t go to his site, the exposure YouTube still brings him, and most importantly the support of YouTube themselves. Do you think he would be able to do the Super Slow Show had he been off YouTube? I doubt he’d be able to call up Tony Hawk and ask him to come film even if he could afford the time. “Thats a retarded claim” “wow its almost like everything I said was correct wow” “Assuming that SMG's couldn't be done the same way is just dumb.” “He started and has remained on youtube like an absolute fool.“ “[Gavin’s] a genuine retard” You seem to fall back on insults whenever you can’t make a compelling argument. You blatantly misunderstand my comments and, to some extent, even your own words. Whenever you find yourself typing down some kind of insult you might want to take that as sign you need to stop for a moment and truly evaluate what you’re trying to articulate. I get that you hate YouTube but you never really considered why Gavin would choose to stay on the platform. There are reasons why so many people stay on YouTube yet still complain about it, like all of the creators who make videos blasting YouTube that are.. on YouTube. If it were as simple as “Just leave it” don’t you think those people would’ve by now?
