I want to punch this guy through his monitor.
Oh my fucking god the hypocrisy of his signature. Ahahaha.
I guy none of you saw Bioware's post about this and the fact that it was worked on after the game's completion?
Apparently they made the DLC after the game had gone gold, as in after they sent it out to the stores.
Apparently they made the DLC after the game had gone gold, as in after they sent it out to the stores.
Which is a lie because the character was already known to be in development when the script was leaked last summer. So that means they decided to have it DLC for quite awhile. How did they even rationalize to make what would be probably considered the most important event in all of Mass Effect lore, to some meaningless day one DLC? I mean shit, wouldn't it make sense he be like a central plot device since he probably has knowledge on the Reapers Shepard could use?
I mean shit, wouldn't it make sense he be like a central plot device since he probably has knowledge on the Reapers Shepard could use?
My bet that they'll have you find him frozen in a ship and when you defrost him and ask him about the reapers he'll go: "sorry mon, i was a toilet cleaner. i know nuthin".
It's like if valve (A reputable company, much like Bioware used to be) released Half Life 2 with day 1 DLC cut directly from the game that had a mission that told you majorly important facts about Gman and his motives. And then it costs $15.
We don't know what the squadmate's mission will be about. Overreacting over assumptions and speculations is unnecessary. The squadmate DLC was not cut from the game. [sp]- “From Ashes” includes the Prothean squad mate, an adventure on Eden Prime, a new weapon, and an alternate appearance for every squad mate. Note that these alternate appearances are in addition to the ones already advertised in the CE. - The Collectors Edition has been advertised from the beginning as containing a bonus character/mission, but we were not at liberty to provide the details. The Prothean is optional content that is certainly designed to appeal to long-time fans, which is why he is part of the CE offering (the version many fans would be likely to purchase). Mass Effect 3 is a complete – and a huge game - right out of the box. - The content in “From Ashes” was developed by a separate team (after the core game was finished) and not completed until well after the main game went into certification. - The Collectors Edition has been sold out in most places for some time now, and is becoming very hard to find (many players prefer not to purchase the digital version). As such, we wanted to make this content available so that SE buyers could also incorporate the Prothean into their game.[/sp]

Still odd that they'd add a squadmate like that as DLC at all.
To be honest, the DLC is the last thing I am worried about. The dumbing down of mechanics and story (especially the latter) on the other hand is what has me really worried. Oh and that they shove in forced and awkward PG-13 sex scenes everywhere to attract the horny 14 year olds (sure do add sex scenes, but goddamn don't make them so awkward even for a videogame). [editline]24th February 2012[/editline]
I want to punch this guy through his monitor.
I love how absurdly naive and stupid much of the customerbase for videogames is. You can shove a barbed dragon dildo up their ass and they'll thank you for it. Also I (and many others) kinda called this years ago, people were all up in arms about DLC but publishers knew that after the first line of resistance, people would accept it and stuff that just a few years ago was mandatory and expected is now seen as an exclusive bonus that we should thank and pay them for.
why the fuck did they have to do all this stupid shit to the final installment of one of my favourite series :( [editline]24th February 2012[/editline] seriously, if I bought ME3 now I'd feel pretty bad for supporting this. it's not even the DLC crap that gets me, it's the moderation of their forum. it's some horrendous fucked up bullshit. what happened to the Bioware that made Baldur's Gate II? what happened to them, huh?

It's almost like the gman. Source plz on the dlc content being developed by separate team and that it wasn't completed before the game was ready.
EA bought them Think of it this way. if Activision/Blizzard are Nazi Germany. EA would be Italy or Japan
That's a terrible metaphor because EA and Activision are competitors and pretty much every major title EA publishes nowadays is done so with the intent of outdoing Activision. The Axis powers were allies and while they were on the offensive they were all attacking completely different parts of the world.
Prothean according to Mass Effect 1 with the statues of them on illos, Jamaican/South African Prothean according to Mass Effect 3, Biodrones will obviously make up some assumption that the Prothean we see in Mass Effect 3 is "more advanced/evolv.... yadaddadadda".
TB's voice is butter to my ears
Biodrones will obviously make up some assumption that the [sp]Prothean[/sp] we see in Mass Effect 3 is "more advanced/evolv.... yadaddadadda".
And how do you know it's not actually an Indoctrinated Reaper agent or something sent to trick Shephard? It's possible.
The Mass Effects are some of my favorite games this gen, I'll probably buy the game and the dlc, and I still won't be as screwed over as I was when I bought Fallout 3 and those 5 DLC's.
Except Bethesda were top lads by releasing a GOTY edition which compiled all the DLC onto one disc. Even New Vegas had the pre-order bonus' included with the ultimate edition.
And how do you know it's not actually an Indoctrinated Reaper agent or something sent to trick Shephard? It's possible.
Because it's DLC and it won't matter to the plot at all. Once you finish the From Ashes missions, he functions to same as Zaeed. Except when you travel with him, everybody will think he is some kind of guy in a costume and not a actual Prothean. There can't be something cool like you said because that would affect the main game. By making him paid DLC, Bioware has completely shot themselves in the foot with being unable to make him important at all. Do we really need to spoiler tag something that is in the DLC description?
Biodrones will obviously make up some assumption that the Prothean we see in Mass Effect 3 is "more advanced/evolv.... yadaddadadda".
Except Bioware stated themselves that they purposefully made rough humanoid statues on Ilos because at the time they didn't know what the Prothean's looked like. [editline]25th February 2012[/editline] Also using the word "Biodrone" seriously really kills any credibility you are trying to make for yourself.
I don't get why people play the opposite gender in games, like in Eve, a lot of my corpmates have female alt characters and I have no idea why. What's the attraction to it?
Because it's DLC and it won't matter to the plot at all.
Has there been any evidance of this? From what i've read, it is crucial to the plot.
he should get some cheese for that whine
Looks like I'll have to wait for the GOTY edition to be on sale on Steam (or Origin) for <20€.
I don't get why people play the opposite gender in games, like in Eve, a lot of my corpmates have female alt characters and I have no idea where. What's the attraction to it?
Why not? I don't do it, but why shouldnt they?
Why not? I don't do it, but why shouldnt they?
Not saying they shouldn't do it, but I'm just curious to know why they do it.
Why is he playing female Shepard? Male Shepard is better.
So he doesn't look at a man's ass while he plays.
That's a terrible metaphor because EA and Activision are competitors and pretty much every major title EA publishes nowadays is done so with the intent of outdoing Activision. The Axis powers were allies and while they were on the offensive they were all attacking completely different parts of the world.
You're missing the point even though you said it right in your sentence there. They were a plague on the world
ME3 won't be a day one buy for me. Mostly because I have the luxury of having way to many games and projects on my list as it is. And seeing this day one DLC bullshit doesn't really move me to pre-order. The worst thing is, this character should make a significant impact on the story. The fact that it's DLC means his significance will be downplayed. Just a side character like Zaeed. Hell why do I want to buy this game anyway if I can predict every move it's going to make. It leaves less and less surprises.
So he doesn't look at a man's ass while he plays.
When I'm playing a game I tend not to focus on the character's ass, using this as an argument is pretty stupid to be honest.
I don't understand why arguments about this exist. Just play however you play and stop giving a fuck about what everyone else is doing, some people only play male characters and that's fine, some only play female characters and that's fine too, some people (like me) play both and don't give a fuck because it's all just pixels.
Well yeah I have two playthroughs of Mass Effect 1 & 2, one's male and one's female, I'm just saying it's a pretty dumb argument.
I don't get why people play the opposite gender in games, like in Eve, a lot of my corpmates have female alt characters and I have no idea why. What's the attraction to it?

you play a male in almost every other game that's so boring. (there's a cross-dressing joke in there)
