It's been confirmed Miku Hatsune will be present on stage at the beginning of the opening ceremony.
I loved the cheeky nod towards Rio when Mario opened the map. I love it.
Will Godzilla light the Olympic flame?
The amount of athlete sex orgies in Tokyo is gona be outrageously high. All the squealing might cause earthquake.
certainly looks a lot fucking better than anything rio related
I mean, there's still some time until 2020
Trump 2016, its destiny
i loved how basically last night was 80% about Tokyo, it's like the Olympic committee just wanted everyone to forget rio as fast as possible :v:
If they don't do anything Akira related, I'd be pretty pissed. Akira predicted Japan having the Olympic on 2020
NEO-TOKYO IS ABOUT TO E.X.P.L.O.D.E.
IIRC the plan, or rumor, was for them to deorbit a satellite during the opening ceremony.
P sure you're thinking of an episode of Planetes.
Time to roll out the Gundam.

Tokyo is a great city for this. Grew up there for 6.5 years. Its really magical and I highly suggest yall visit.
That's why they're going for the illest fireworks. IIRC the plan, or rumor, was for them to deorbit a satellite during the opening ceremony.
It's SOL. [editline]22nd August 2016[/editline] They should blow a hole through the moon for the opening ceremony.
Was a pretty nice sneak up! The mario part surprised a lot Would you care to elaborate more? Rio Opening and Closing ceremony is already rated as one of the most beautiful and organized in the history of the modern olympic games. Yes! However the ceremony went without any problems
Are you kidding? The opening ceremony was really underwhelming.
i loved how basically last night was 80% about Tokyo, it's like the Olympic committee just wanted everyone to forget rio as fast as possible :v:
I've watched the entire ceremony and Tokyo got a really small time doing the presentation comparing to the rio closing party, (besides the official things like the passage of the flag) [editline]22nd August 2016[/editline]
Are you kidding? The opening ceremony was really underwhelming.
What? Everyone was pretty impressed at the opening ceremony... What was the part that you think it failed yours expectation?
I'd feel better about this if they weren't using slave labor http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2014/11/23/national/japan-sanctioning-mass-slave-labor-via-foreign-trainee-program/
And this has to do with the 2020 Olympics... How exactly?
Because they are using said labor for the Olympics
Because they are using said labor for the Olympics
Ah yeah, didn't read well enough. Sorry about that.
i was talking about the whole fact that the rio olympics was terribly set up, i am not talking about anything that happened in the olympics, just the behind the scenes work and errors that happened during the event (pools turning green, athletes getting robbed, tourists being taken hostage, middle finger to the poor/police/firemen, etc.)
Even assuming a lot of these things absolutely happened and weren't just exaggerations, your comment about it being more "class" seems to be talking about the aesthetics more than the background, which is why I was also confused on why you decided to phrase it like that. I don't really think it's possible to argue at this point that Rio was a good location pick but I think they did the best with what they have and expectations for it to be an unmitigated disaster fell short.

Don't forget how the 2010 Olympics wouldn't of happened without cheap mexican labor to build it all.
You know, if you pick up any stone you will find some dirt on it. Don't forget how the 2010 Olympics wouldn't of happened without cheap mexican labor to build it all.
wow, way to undermine the pain, suffering, and overall shitty treatment people who illegally cross the boarder for a better life, just to find that the only people who will accept them will treat them like shit and pay them very little because they're not regulated by a governing body. and way to undermine those poor chinese interns by calling their pain, suffering, and missing cash nothing more than dirt on an otherwise perfect stone (which these countries are far from being.) what an awful way of thinking. the olympics have brought nothing but worse things for every country involved these past decades, because they make such a big stink out of it and call it a boost to tourism, but the olympics are seldom thought about after 2 or so years and the stadiums they build get thrown into the shitter, alongside the surrounding communities. Sochi, Beijing, the list goes on with Rio next on the chopping block. its pretty fucking bad too when your quad-yearly event has one page for every event on wikipedia, each scaling miles long, for these past couple decades. seriously, check them out. it's terrible to look at (though I will admit a lot of it surrounds judgements and drug use, but still, the labor issues and abandonment is just sprinkled in that shit.)
Shin-Chan in the OLYMPICS?? my life is complete
I'm trying to figure out what they got planned for him, considering how his comics can walk the red line pretty hard.
How much do you think booking a flight to Japan AND going to the olympics is? I'd love to go.
I'm trying to figure out what they got planned for him, considering how his comics can walk the red line pretty hard.
Maybe it's a "The Nohara family goes to see the olympics" episode. It writes itself.
How much do you think booking a flight to Japan AND going to the olympics is? I'd love to go.
I can assure you that form Canada at least a round-trip flight with a modest hotel will cost about as much as you'll be paying for tickets to at least three or four major events.
I'm trying to figure out what they got planned for him, considering how his comics can walk the red line pretty hard.
He will be on a giant screen with no pants on for 15 minutes with absolutely no one working there mentioning it
Crayon Shin-Chan? So there will be butts and fart jokes at the opening ceremony i guess.
