I dunno if that was super rad and awesome or awkward and terribly written. I'm on the fence but I enjoyed it.

This is borderline parody
Still though fuck I want to be skiing on mountains and have wine at a chateau nightclub looking over mountains on a balcony
The bar they were at is the whitest bar I've ever seen
Ok guys, I will finally do it. I will finally get laid. I got all the equipment ready.
Axe spray to have a good smell and stop waterhosing people accidently when I am lifting my arms.
Samsung wristwatch which doubles as phone and creepphoto camera to impress the girl with my technological superiority.
And expensive clothes to further show the value of my wallet instead of the shitty personality I have.
It's a really terrible idea for a phone, but as a music player or something I can see some real benefits to being wrist-mounted.

The worst part about this is how he just leaves his £600 phone teetering on the edge of a balcony six feet away from him.

No please it's actually pretty cool technology, theoretically, don't let it be ruined by negative social connotations.

Smart watches aren't really meant to replace your phone. Just act as a easy way to receive notifications, send simple commands (so media stuff I guess) and maybe take a picture or two if they feel like sticking a camera in it. Quite simple devices to stop you needing to pull your phone out all the time.
Actually saw the galaxy gear today in the store. Every reviewer has been complaining about it being big, but honestly I think it's surprisingly small. I don't know whether it's great usability wise (if reviews are any indication, it's not), but I think it's pretty amazing how much technology you can have around your wrist at this point.
Also who the fuck takes their skis off when they use that kind of lift?
I'd have stolen his phone. Who leaves a phone on the side of a balcony in public?
So it's a watch...that can stalk people? Hmmm....

His phone stalking app on his watch can find any phone, as it was shown in the video.
There is no way the Gear could've responded to finger taps with a glove. I tried using my phone with a glove and it didn't register a thing.

you can buy gloves that make it so you can use touchscreens while you wear them
dont ask me how they work because they dont

there's gloves that have capacitive fingertips to allow touchscreens to function

This thumbnail is more entertaining than the video.
If you edited a fedora on his head it would be an even better pic. Really its asking for it[/QUOTE]

And just like the video, I half-assed it.

actually the galaxy gear is very limited in terms of functionality and especially battery life (which sucks for something wearable)
in real life the battery of the watch would have run out long before the end of the ad
the pebble is loads better (it uses e-ink)

"no way" is a bit extreme. Nokia's Lumia line basically all work with even thick gloves (I tried with my leather gloves), so it's very much possible to make a capacitive touchscreen work with gloves. The Gear can't do it, as far as I'm concerned, but it's definitely possible to do.

The newer Samsung phones have an increased sensitivity mode for use with gloves on.
Works well enough.
I think we can say goodbye to the jobs of most of the marketing department.
