I tried the chewing gum one today when i made dinner. Didn't work, he lied to me.
I never have to do that because I've never had the problem of overboiling if I don't keep a lid on.

Did you stop watching at that point or? He did it right afterwards, it was mostly a dumb joke.
I know he did it afterwards but I'm saying why didn't he do it in the first place.
I love John Green but this video reminded me of Mythbusters.
AKA "omg you did it wrong do it again"

if a myth busting video doesn't take inspiration from mythbusters I'm surprised
the big problem is he didn't provide any control situations, aka "beer bottle WITH the paper towel vs one without", or "pizza with or without the cup of water", to show whether or not the situation changed, or was made even worse

First thing I noticed. How are we supposed to know wheter or not he's just lying for the sake of it?
PASS!!!
Here's a fun life hack: At a store, put things you can't afford in your pocket. Nobody will make you pay for them!
[sp]ps i don't shoplift don't arrest me police[/sp]

i wonder if the next life update is going to patch that exploit.
The pizza reheat one maybe not keep it crispy, but it's way better then just reheating it on it's own.
Once I learned that I could never do it any other way.
A better one is to heat it in a skillet.
microwaved pizza tastes so good though. like microwaved leftover pizza tastes 50x better than fresh baked pizza.
I tried the chewing gum one today when i made dinner. Didn't work, he lied to me.
He didn't cut anywhere close to the root, that's where the highest concentration of sulfenic acids are which is what irritates your eyes
I have to wash my hands after touching anything remotely dirty. I eat chips with a fucking fork.
It's useful to me.
I do the same and I've tried many times to stop. If I've touched wet food with my hands I can get really stressed if I don't wash it off. Especially onions. I swear the smell of onion on my hands and taste in my mouth can last for days. If I also cook with onion (which I rarely do) I have to make sure there's no bits left anywhere because just one small piece can stink up my whole appartment.
As for chips I never tried eating them with a fork, but I have tried using gloves. :v: (but they leave a plastic smell on my hands!!) I rarely eat chips anyway.
I dunno if you're worried about bacteria or if it's just the smell. To me it's just the smell.

I'm assuming you mean this ..

you sicken me
also I have one of these (big enough to fit a standard tombstone pizza or whatever)

reheated pizza tastes like it's brand new provided you stored it well. You can also cram a bunch of leftover junk like fries or chicken on it and they taste godly
The wooden spoon to prevent boiling water works all the time for me, strange that it didn't for him.
The idea is that you break and create surface tension with the spoon to prevent the bubbles from reaching up past that point.
It all depends on the spoon really.
He's doing a lot of these wrong and a good bit of his "fails" actually are passes or just really contextualized.

and level of water. If you have a 6 cup pot and 3 cups of water in it boiling and you leave it, foam will rise over and fall off the side, but if you have the spoon it will build on to the spoon without boiling over.
However if you have 5 cups of water in the 6cup pot it will still boil over.

What's wrong with you? I mean microwaved pizza is still edible but better than freshly baked? I mean come on dude.
oh shit i watched this guy in AP class last year(Crash Course)
I love his videos
Like like the egg separating one
You fffff-
Of course the tp roll trick and the solo trick won't work when you sit out of the way of the direction the devices are DIRECTING the SOUND.

it tastes awesome imo. in fact, whenever my family would buy papa murphy's i would always wait until way later after they had put the remaining pizza in the fridge to eat, simply because i liked the reheated version better.
Gonna try that beer thing right now, pretty awesome idea
a "lifehack" is simply a fucking trick. Thats how you call those.
a "lifehack" is simply a fucking trick. Thats how you call those.
You can call it a trick that makes life potentially easier or a lifehack, it's just a clever name people attach to it, no need to get your knickers in a twist.

this post makes me irrationally angry what with its making sense and stuff
UGH
That egg one separating one is cool, but probably not reliable.
It is actually the most easy and reliable way to separate eggs, in my experience. I actually showed my mother that trick a few weeks ago and she got a little upset at how much time it could have saved her.
I do 28 all the time
Because "life hacks" sounds kind of stupid and because and he's overreacting.
It doesn't sound stupid. It is your reaction to "life hacks" that is causing you suffering.
It doesn't sound like anything. It is what it is.
I am indifferent to the term lifehack
