How about some spatial awareness? I'm constantly checking my mirrors and shit for that precise reason, so that if something comes up I'll be able to know if I can swerve or not, it's saved my ass two times.

I don't understand this black-and-white approach to driving, do you just not look anywhere except directly in front and panic if anything unexpected happens?
You don't have time to check your mirrors in an emergency.
"Oh shit! Check my mirror, check my blind spot, evade!"
No, that's moronic.
Why is there a 1 second green light at around 6:04?
They're there to help control congestion. We have them on most of the on ramps here in Brisbane. They're only active when its "stand still" traffic. The idea is to help people merge at a stead rate rather then "I MUST GET INFRONT OF EVERYONE".

That's not what I said, learn to read.

While yes, you should have spatial awareness when driving, problem is, in a split second decision where it could mean putting you at fault in an accident and involving someone that shouldn't have been involved in the first place you're better off hitting the person that pulled out on you, puts them at fault for their moronic driving and prevents you getting the blame + costs for repair of vehicles.
Not just that, at higher speeds if you were to swerve to avoid a car, kangaroo or whatever you might end up rolling, spinning out then slamming into a tree or pole or something. You're better off slamming on the brakes and hoping for the best.
You're example at 4:47, how do you know there wasn't a car in the lane next to them?

Well, if there was a car besides her that we can't see in the video, alright, whatever, but I won't agree that swerving means automatically throwing the car out of balance and rolling or spinning out or crashing into someone.
To put this in perspective, let me get an example of something that happened to me about a year ago. It was a two lane road (one lane each way). There was a car coming the other way, and pedestrians on the right side (my side). A teenage girl suddenly started crossing the road right in front of me, putting a foot on the road and advancing while looking the other way, but not my way. At that distance, braking would have been useless as I would have hit her. So my only option was to swerve but there was a car coming right the other way. I had to swerve just enough that I wouldn't hit her but also wouldn't hit the other car, and that's precisely what I did. I was sweating like a pig afterwards and stopped the car for a moment to get my shit together again. And that's the worst incident I've had so far, the previous one was when a taxi spun out in front of me in the rain, on a motorway, and slammed into the barrier on the left, I was doing about 80mph on the left lane and I still managed to check my right and swerve.
So I don't buy this "swerving is a primal instinct that you have no control over while braking is always the best thing you can do" nonsense at all. What if one day you lose the rear end during a corner? Are you gonna slam the brakes automatically there too? Say hello to that wall then.
"spazdicated idiot"
fucking amazing :v:
