I went through a phase like that, and it simply doesn't work. If you want to make stuff and let other people watch it, then do it. If you do succeed, you will have successfully sold you soul to make the worst videos for the lowest common denominator. See minecraft lets plays.

I only do the overlay ads on any of my videos anyways, i doubt anyone want's to watch and advert before seeing a 7 second clip of my car doing 0-60.
