Just like most elite, controller is expensive but useless.
The normal xbone controller I got is pretty shitty too, the left stick is really wobbly and the dpad is very unreliable, it sometimes clicks without actually registering it's been pressed. You'd think the elite controller that is three times more expensive wouldn't have the same issues :v:
how can you fuck up that bad
What a scam.
I can't wait for the inevitable Steam machine video from this guy.
I can't wait for the inevitable Steam machine video from this guy.
At least the steam controllers aren't this bad.
man, can't wait for people on /v/ to post this in those "hey, here's your controller bro" threads
At least the steam controllers aren't this bad.
Uh yeah they are. Instead of bitching about a controller on YouTube they could have returned their product for a refund or got a new one. my bro has one of these and it still works perfectly
Uh yeah they are.
They're weirdly noisy due to the haptics, and do feel a bit plasticy. But I've not noticed anything like drift or wobbly components on mine and it's seen use. The actual construction of the controller seems fairly solid. Considering a Steam Controller is a £35 product or whatever, and the Elite gamepad is $150, I'd fucking hope that MS would be able to QC them enough to stop even slightly naff units from leaving the warehouses.

I really like the idea of the elite controller (and steam controller), hope they can get this sorted, customizable controllers are amazing
If a Steam Controller has drift or another issue, you can calibrate it and that usually fixes the issue. Nobody seems to have the issue where you can push the stick up and down on a Steam Controller, so that's fine. Not sure if you can calibrate the elite controller, since I don't have one. I actually had the analog stick problem on my PS3 controller, weird that the Elite controller has this issue considering it's $150.
the materials look high quality, the sweat shop workers assembling them probably didnt care when it came to their specific controllers its sad but for 150$ dont you think they could afford more than the lowest low of labor??
the materials look high quality, the sweat shop workers assembling them probably didnt care when it came to their specific controllers its sad but for 150$ dont you think they could afford more than the lowest low of labor??
Steam controller is cheaper than a standard xbone controller, and its assembled in the us, not far from where I live, so yeah, MS really should pay for better labor.

I don't have any proof of it, but believe me, they are!" I've owned a Steam controller since December. I'll admit it's given me some software issues (mostly because I spent a lot of time in the Steam Beta for fancy feature previews), but hardware wise, it's worked exactly as expected and advertised.
Uh yeah they are. Instead of bitching about a controller on YouTube they could have returned their product for a refund or got a new one. my bro has one of these and it still works perfectly
You do realize they could have put a ticket in support and simply not have gotten a response yet also it takes ~5 minutes or less to make and upload a video I've used steam controllers since october '15, they're extremely good. I've played the recent doom, fallout 4, bit of space engineers, mgs5 just cause 3, dark souls 2/3 all without any issues at all. That's a HUGE array of games and every one of them I chose the steam controller over other options and it worked, imho, far better than a mouse for me specifically.
My regular xbox 360 controllers did this too, the springs that are supposed to push the stick back up when you click them are cheap garbage and bend easily so it just fucks up everything. Then you'll get results like the video where slightly moving it in a direction and then letting go will have the stick permanently locked in that position. Also the XB1's controller has the worst shoulder buttons (LB and RB). You have to put way more pressure on them then you should have to compared to the 360 controller.
I really like the idea of the elite controller (and steam controller), hope they can get this sorted, customizable controllers are amazing
I'm not 100% on the purpose behind swapping out sticks. But being able to switch between a cross and omni-directional d-pad, having optional back triggers (the fixed ones on the steam controller are such a useful feature), in game configuration of those paddles and various trigger settings is a really cool direction to move in. Just being able to set up my Steam controller triggers to combine controlled movements and panicked presses into a single button is neat as fuck.
the increased length allows for better leverage and a greater 'range' of control basically, it lets you control it a little bit finer
Ehh...I'd rather just fuck with response curves than rely on a stick jutting out more than muscle memory expects. It's a fair few mm difference between the smallest and tallest. That sounds a bit off-putting.

This is why the elite is a massive toss tbh people who literally believe the elite is a better buy than a steam controllers are massively retarded
Hey, my right D-Pad button doesn't always click too! Haha what a funny coincidence! :(
Uh yeah they are. Instead of bitching about a controller on YouTube they could have returned their product for a refund or got a new one. my bro has one of these and it still works perfectly
I've had a Steam Controller since November and it's fine.
I don't know about the xbox elite but the controller I got in 2013 still holds up today. The only things I didn't like about it was that the triggers are way way too sensitive like you could blow on them and set it off and that it runs off AAs every other game controller has a rechargeable battery and the only reason why I can think they did that was to be cheap or they are getting money from AA industry.
Out of curiosity I tinkered with my regular Xbone controller while watching this. I noticed that I can pull the stick up a bit and put it back in but only with a bit of force. Not just by tilting the controller

I'd rather have a madcatz controller cowered in dewrito dust
all analog sticks can be lifted up if pulled on, it's just way too easy to do it on some elite controllers.
reason for this is because they're just stuck onto a little stick on the controllers board, as a note
