No-one's ever doubted that he's probably a decent guy, but he's in a bit of a bind right now. PewDiePie doesn't have the luxury of his fanbase being mature enough to accept criticism and this video was going to cause a shitstorm regardless of what he did. Even if he made a video explaining it was fine, he would lose a lot of popularity from kiddies who believe he's infallible and it would still continue.
The best possible thing he could have done was ignore it, pretend it doesn't exist, not comment or even mention it. Instead he commented something idiotic in a terrible attempt to be witty when the video was fresh and things aren't looking good. His videos are absolute faked garbage and even he understands that, but he couldn't leave it alone and keep it among his shitty fanbase and target audience, he had to fan the flames.

The current trend is Let's Plays with youtube partnerships and naive fanbases possibly earning them absurd figures. He picked up on the trend and made a fuckload, I can't blame him for that. He didn't do anything special though, he's just the latest trend who brought pandering to idiots down to a science. He didn't accomplish anything other than knowing his market and being in the right place at the right time. The good news is that in within the next few years, the trend will die out and these idiots will have to find something else to do and he'll just be another Swedish dumbass with a lot of savings and a bad past.

If some of these people hate pewdiepie then why do they dwell on him so much? Some people may get angry and even wish death upon him (which has happened in this thread, and was agreed with) just because he's doing something that doesn't take much effort while making a lot of money. So what? Life is unfair, deal with it. There's a lot worse shit happening right now. Pewdiepie did a really good job at getting people extremely angry with that little comment. If you actually use common sense while looking at his comment you can see that he was trying to be a dick in that comment. As soon as any of you saw that you immediately jumped on that as an excuse to say he's a horrible prick that should die, as if that little comment defines who he is as a human being.
