The funny thing is that Google's view algorithm, I think, won't count viewing as a valid view if your activity shows that you're not interested. For instance, play for a few seconds and stop the video; That is not a view.

He won't. The difference is, Doug Walker is an extremely nice guy, and a genuinely funny guy who ran out of material, realised it, and quit before it completely crashed so that he could do something else that he wants to do.
PewDiePie, on the other hand, from what we've seen, is a complete unfunny douchebag who doesn't give a shit about anything but feeling smug over the fact that he's earning a shitload of money for being a talentless hack.
I want to start my own series of Let's Plays.
Just need to get a better microphone and perhaps another external hard-drive.
And I even have a good catch for my series, my friends think it's a good driving catch that I have.
But goddamn does this asshole make me feel like not starting with it.
I feel like I should make an episode dedicated to PewDiePie at some point.
During the episode first talk shit about him and then go about impersonating him in a demeaning way.
As in instead of having genuine reactions due to the whole "catch" of the series; scream at random, at everything and replace every clever remark and joke with something rape.
