When you have flashy lights on the top of your car?
That light turned yellow way before he got there. I bet that light was red by the time he got halfway into the intersection.
The light would have turned red while he was still in the intersection, yes, but that woman had a full red, no change.
There was a huge explanation for this on Reddit, somewhere.. Something about how it's perfectly legal within the state of Georgia to run a yellow light (Since the guy that recorded the video was in Georgia) [editline]11th February 2015[/editline] Here it is
I got pulled over a lot in Alabama but since I've been living in Georgia I have not been pulled over once. Also yeah. I was under the impression that the law anywhere is that if all four of your tires are across the white line before the light turns red you're good.
Things like this make me want to get a dashcam. I don't know why I haven't yet. Also with his hand on the horn at impact I"m surprised but glad he wasn't injured from the airbag deployment.
He probably has nerve damage. I know I did when I was rear ended. I saw the guy in my mirror, braced against the steering wheel and ended up with bruised wrists and some nerve damage as a result. Also ended up with some back and spine issues, but those are mostly resolved after a lot of chiropractor visits.
Not excusing the woman but the light turned yellow before he got there, and he had plenty of time to stop.
Spot the person who doesn't drive ever Hint: It's Tmaxx
Especially with how the traffic is in the city, nobody stops for yellow lights. Not to mention even when your light turns red it still is another moment before the perpendicular road's lights turn green. Why is this even an argument? v:v:v
that plus stopping for a yellow light, most of the time I'm in a yellow light I would have to SLAM on the breaks to stop for it and if you don't know why you shouldn't slam on your breaks when it's clearly unneeded, you should probably learn how to drive. [editline]10th February 2015[/editline] the chances of causing an accident by stopping suddenly when it's yellow is much higher than a collision like this even someone who is genuinely an inattentive driver knows full well that you don't stop when it's yellow
Holy shit look at all these people trying to either defend the woman or pull the old, tired "w-well everyone's at fault here!" Shut up, the man was in the clear and the woman was being a light-running idiot. It's pretty disgusting how the police were completely ignoring the man's side of the story, though.
apparently the cops were writing him a ticket after taking the lady's word that he ran a red light. He showed them the footage and instead the cops wrote tickets for the woman.
This is the thing you guys should find messed up, but noooo it's "muh yellow light."
Spot the person who doesn't drive ever Hint: It's Tmaxx
haha yeah those 5 years of driving a car and couple months of riding a motorcycle are nothing. I must be dumb for pointing out a fact lol. Ya'll niggas need to calm the fuck down. Another thing I noticed is that he didn't look left or right at all as he was crossing. Green, yellow, purple, or pink, I always look before crossing an intersection and that is something I was taught in driving school. Because you never know, someone could be running a light, and that has in fact, saved my life and my car's several times. fuck you dai you rated this dumb as soon as it was posted.
I feel so guilty every time I run a yellow. sometimes it changes and I'm like "oh fuck do I go or stop", by then it's too late and I run it.
muh yellow light? what the fuck is wrong with you? I can't merely state something?
You're stating something in a clear attempt to shift some of the blame onto a guy who was well within his rights (and ability) to keep going.
You're stating something in a clear attempt to shift some of the blame onto a guy who was well within his rights (and ability) to keep going.
or maybe i was saying there was time at the light to stop?
i'm not fucking victim blaming, i was stating a fact.

haha yeah those 5 years of driving a car and couple months of riding a motorcycle are nothing. Like, you're telling us to calm down, but look at all the bold
or maybe i was saying there was time at the light to stop?
Well clearly the driver didn't think it was worth it, or could, or else he'd have stopped you can drive through a yellow light you know, it's perfectly legal. If you're that close it just isn't worth it as cars behind you also have to stop and could collide with you. Either way you can get hit.
whatever, fuck it. [editline]10th February 2015[/editline]
Why are you so angry? And why do you care about ratings so much? Like, you're telling us to calm down, but look at all the bold
because you people attack me personally when i'm just pointing out a fact.
whatever, fuck it. [editline]10th February 2015[/editline] because you people attack me personally when i'm just pointing out a fact. DURRR U DON'T DREIV LELELLEOELEOLEOL
Someone who drives should know full well that breaking hard at a yellow light isn't safe. Therefore I still assume that you don't drive.
or maybe i was saying there was time at the light to stop?
See, here you are trying to blame the guy again. "Well you know, he could have stopped and this would never have happened..." Classic victim blaming.
What is subjective is how much time he had to stop at the yellow light. What isn't subjective is the other driver running a red light which was, is, and always had been red all the way until impact. Blaming the S2000 is like blaming a pedestrian crossing with the go signal for getting hit by a car. In fact, that is the exact same argument. These types of topics always break out in discussions like this. People decide that the victim is in the wrong for merely being in the wrong place at the wrong time. By that logic, that dude shouldn't even have stepped in the car because "he knew the risks."
Things like this make me want to get a dashcam. I don't know why I haven't yet. Also with his hand on the horn at impact I"m surprised but glad he wasn't injured from the airbag deployment.
You should get one as soon as possible. A dashcam can save you from a world of misery as you can catch people's license plate on video if they to hit-and-run, or prove you're not at fault in an accident.
or maybe i was saying there was time at the light to stop?
Or maybe I was saying there was other cloths to wear instead of that slutty tube top.
You should get one as soon as possible. A dashcam can save you from a world of misery as you can catch people's license plate on video if they to hit-and-run, or prove you're not at fault in an accident.
I'm probably going to get a dash cam + gps device the moment I get a new car. (and when I say dash cam, I mean an auto on, 60fps, 1080p, audio, lets me track my car via my phone) and a solid GPS device. I should get one now but I mean, I can't even power it in my current car, and it isn't very battery efficient.
haha yeah those 5 years of driving a car and couple months of riding a motorcycle are nothing. I must be dumb for pointing out a fact lol. Green, yellow, purple, or pink, I always look before crossing an intersection and that is something I was taught in driving school. Because you never know, someone could be running a light, and that has in fact, saved my life and my car's several times.
can I just ask how are you and code are this dense about the concept of driving through a yellow light yellow lights will run a good 6 seconds through intersections this size, (3 seconds at smaller village roads and slower speed limit intersections, but this appears to be county highways) then there will be a 1 second gap where all lights are red before turn signals are enabled [cars in lanes withstanding] then the main lights turn green and about looking both ways before entering the intersection, you can't see past the massive bridge walls- [t]http://i.imgur.com/fj4H2d6.png[/t] here's where the light turns yellow, at 10 seconds. He's about 4 car lengths back, roughly 2-3 seconds from the intersection. Plenty of time for even a short yellow, and depending on how fast he's going (likely 40-45), we've reached the thing everybody learned about in driver's ed called the "point of no return", aka "trying to stop can result in somebody behind you not having the time to react to your dumb ass" and "if a cop sees you skidding to a stop he'll let you know how stupid that was himself"- [t]http://i.imgur.com/Tx33bh8.png[/t] this is the instant he can actually see her, at the very start of 13 seconds in, his front wheels have crossed the line in the very least. Hell, you could probably argue the van was masked just wrong by the window pillar- [t]http://i.imgur.com/gzhjj85.png[/t] and here's the point he comprehends the shit going down and starts to jerk the wheel/apply the brake, still at 13 seconds in- [t]http://i.imgur.com/0ceTO68.png[/t] gee whiz he should have come to a complete stop and looked both ways even if the light was green, how dare he be on the road this particular day. This is the same shitty arguing about nothing we always get when you see someone get nailed while on a bike. Maybe it's the wide angle lense that throws people off of the actual scale of distance and speed
fuck you dai you rated this dumb as soon as it was posted.
nicccccce

Points out a very bad hole in the way officers approach collisions like this and can hopefully be remedied pretty soon.

Theres a ton of idiot drivers around here that are texting while driving or just not paying attention. Like the other night i almost got into a sideswipe because i saw a dickhead sitting on a green light and i yielded and waited till i said fuck it and went, since he wasnt moving. Sure enough he saw the light and gassed it around the turn and almost rammed into me. really need to get me a dash cam for personal safety.
Spot the person who doesn't drive ever Hint: It's Tmaxx
Yeah, I know here in Georgia you can legally drive through a yellow light. As long as you cross the crosswalk/limit line while the light is still yellow it's not considered running a red light. In fact, it's encouraged to just keep the flow of traffic, if a light turns yellow and you are going the posted speed it may not be safe for you or those around you to make a complete stop. It's better to go through the light and maintain the posted speed. Even after a light changes from yellow to red there is a few seconds in delay before the colors shift. At least that's the case here where I live. Essentially an accident like the one in the OP should never occur even if he crossed the line at the very last second of the light being yellow. Everyone on the adjacent road surfaces should be at a complete stop. The traffic flowing through the intersection on both green and yellow lights has the complete right of way.

I got ticketed once because the roads were covered in solid ice and I slid into the back of a minivan at a stop-light despite all of my best attempts to stop/steer out of the way and while going less than 5MPH. Seriously, the only damage from this collision was my front license-plate holder broke off.

In the law's eyes, you should have maintained more following distance/kept a lower speed.

I tried braking/steering away at least 150 feet at around 5 MPH, but nothing helped.
