That's actually not a bad idea. I'd do it if we didn't already have a working set of (non-Nest) networked fire alarms in the house :v:
I'm curious to the actual cost breakdown of these devices, if all $130 is going into the product, labor or just the marketing (akin to Beats).

Cant be any worse of a addition after that sunroof he added to his house
I have really bad experiences with fire alarms, we had one that would go off once roughly every 2 hours.
So we bought another one, went off at random times.
Another one, went off because of some smoke from the fireplace(hurray it worked), but the reset button didn't fucking work and wouldn't stop beeping.
Fuck fire alarms
We're not supposed to smoke where I live, having a fire alarm in our rooms. The only time it went off is with the shower steam.
Ugh, our house has smoke alarms that are networked over the power like these, every time the power fluctuates they go off; I have to get a goddamn latter to reach the one that's on my 10' ceiling so I can unplug the fucking thing.
I bet half of the budget on that shit went to the hyper fancy LEDs.
Reminds me of Portal turrets, especially the voice.
I'm kind of surprised he hasn't been forced to take it down/that he posted it to begin with – Google owns Nest (they paid 3.2 billion), and Google Ventures was the main investor before it was acquired
just in case of the very common situation where the room is ablaze and you don't notice we'll make it so you can never turn these fucking things off

What's with the weird South African accent?
I've had this happen before with just a regular wired fire alarm system so it's not like this is some rare thing that only affects this device.
The flat I'm currently living has 2 smoke detectors in completely random places (the boiler is in the kitchen which is integrated with the living room, which has no fucking alarms. There is one alarm right by the front door, which is separated from the living room/kitchen by a pretty heavy door that closes on its own and the second one is pretty much in the same room as the first alarm, just upstairs). There is one CO detector in the living room and the boiler is pretty much ancient. After living there for 1.5 years only a couple of months ago when a repairman came around for something he noticed that there were no batteries in the fucking thing to begin with.
Coming from somewhere where smoke detectors/CO alarms are not a regular thing I had no idea the kind of danger we were in. Scared the shit out of me considering the number of times I slept/passed out in the living room.

it's a really shitty Australian accent.it's a parody of a product that was being advertised around the time.
