I'll fight you right now.
I fucking love the original. This trailer gave me mild hope

Also Villanueve (sp?) is fucking bomb
Not to be a piece of shit, but beyond the "cover" of the first music in the opening shot, what's so spot on about it?

Or do you simply mean that it's spot on for the movie?
I mean it gives me confidence they are going for a soundtrack similar to the original, not a safe choice at all in my mind. I can imagine some people not liking the 80s synth if they don't get it spot on.
Mmm Ryan Gosling.

FTFY
The trailer does not leave me confident.
god damn some of you people are picky as fuck
its a huge movie with a star cast of course its going to have a procedural trailer
that being said, this looks as amazing as i expected it to be and harrison ford himself said its one of the best screenplays he's ever written so im even more excited
I am so excited for this movie because the original Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies of all time.
I am also very glad that Cyberpunk is making a come back; it's one of my favorite genres.
I really hope this movie is good, though; I was beyond disappointed with Hollywood's version of Ghost In The Shell, so I hope I don't feel the same with this one.

Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original, is also writing this one so that's something to be optimistic about.
The question is are they going to tap into the themes of the first deep enough and expand on them in a meaningful way.

GITS 2017 as the director himself said took all the iconic scenes and visual elements then retrofitted a new story around them hence the lack of soul.
i see they got harrison ford out of bed long enough to film some scenes
At a glance this looks better than most of the newer movies for old franchises people have tried to make in recent years, though I don't dig having Ryan Gosling for lead, he doesn't feel like an action movie character to me at all.
Interesting to see if they finally prove or disprove the fan theory of Deckard being a Replicant, since I would think he wouldn't have reached old age/aged if he wasn't a Rep', but some theories say he could be a Nexus 7 Replicant which have no distinguishing characteristics other than some neurological things to complete their illusion of humanity and they could be immortal.
I'm hopeful for this, as I've yet to see a Villeneuve film I didn't like.

Well Ridley Scott kinda broke the news on that one, but honestly I'd prefer if canon never concluded anything either way. I think it's pretty clear that he is a replicant in the original movie, but the clues aren't knocking on your front door and it's very tastefully done.
Really I'd prefer if Harrison Ford wasn't in this movie at all - why not make something entirely new in the Blade Runner universe, instead of including some police man who was a footnote in history anyway? Don't get me wrong, I love Ford, but I'd rather they let the original stand on its own.
Compare the Sicario trailer with the movie. They dumped all of the action into the trailer but it's more of a drama with tense or violent sections.
(p.s. did you mean to quote my post?)
We may never know.
Touching on how replicants are actually made seems interesting but I'm not sure I like Jared Leto's ~mystic~ take on it.

Seeing as I consider Arrival as having probably the single best soundtrack out of any film I've seen the last ten years, and it was the only film I have ever seen where I actively noted, while watching the film, how great the soundtrack was.
Yes.
Hoping for a cameo of Rutger Hauer
im happy dave bautista is getting some roles in big movies since gaurdians of the galaxy. he's cool

no no no no no
i'm not debating the quality of the music, the music was great. the editor of this movie just set the music track way too loud. interstellar was quieter than the music in arrival. (in the theater)
Calling it now, the main character is going to start his job like ford did, then begin to question its morals, fall in love with one of the 'enemy' and then at some point discover that he too is destined to die because he was also created in a lab which prompts him to go kill the female employee and then idk.
I certainly hope that ain't the story but some of the lines in the trailer kinda implied it.

Ah, I understand now. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
That being said, I personally really liked how the film was mixed.
I felt that the music being so loud, especially in the quieter, more tense moments, really sold the otherwordliness of it all. The music being so loud makes the watcher uncomfortable, which I felt was perfect for the context.
Looks promising. It's hard to tell from a trailer how the final product will be, since it's entirely possible they pull quotable shit and throw it together, but I'm hoping it doesn't lose the subtlety of the original. There wasn't a whole lot of outright talking about the points the movie made, they were largely in subtext, except for Roy Batty who spoke pretty outright about it since they were his whole motivation.

You want to say he has built an empty shell without a ghost ?
The trailer makes me question if Gosling is infact a real human bean
The world cannot go without a ongoing discussion wether or not the main character from a Blade Runner movie is human or replicant.
I'm very cautiously optimistic about this. The trailer certainly looks amazing. Honestly I didn't like Bladerunner all that much, but it was visually breathtaking in a way that movies never will be again and for that alone I think it was worth the watch. They're nailing the aesthetic dystopian cyberpunk future that the original set the benchmark for.
Although I have this nagging feeling that most of the movie takes place on Mars to save money and the amazing cityscapes will only be in the first act of the movie.

Just learned that Denis Villeneuve was also the director behind Arrival, so that's a huge relief and a very appropriate choice.

He also did Sicario which was excellent. He partnered with cinematographer Roger Deakins on Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, and now Blade Runner.
Nice zinger but I'm clearly commenting on what we've seen and heard so far. Seems worrying to present something Blade Runner-related as if it was a big blockbuster franchise. It's clear they expect this to be a smash-hit, something they wouldn't take too many risks for.
Also, yes, looking into my fortune ball tells me it cannot possibly come close to the original. Only a fortune teller like me could know that.
Maybe this is just opinions and all but to me Blade Runner wasn't necessarily a perfect movie, it isn't even the great movie. And that's funny because keep in mind a few years ago I watched it for the first time and thought it was amazing (probably because of the visuals). And now just one/two months ago I watched it again for the first time in a few years and the first thing I noticed was how slow the film seemed. Maybe I'm just impatient now or something but if there was one flaw I could mention straight off the bat is how it takes a long time for things to get interesting. Exposition can be entertaining if the writing + performances are top notch and pair well. Also depends on the story itself, which Blade Runner to me sounds very interesting. It's just the way that it was executed. The performances are dull. The writing seems subpar and confusing. Maybe that was the point (it's a dystopian future after all) but I don't agree, a lot of aspects of Blade Runner could have been improved. I'm not hyped about Blade Runner 2049, but it might be the improvement that I have been waiting for.
