why do people care about this shit
or on the flip side why are people overly offended by him doing it
And statistically speaking there would still be gay, lesbian, asexual, trans and genderqueer people.
Even in the wasteland.
Although among the small cut of the people who are actually important in a game plot, it's fairly probable that they're all straight, whereas it's ridiculously improbable that every one of them happen to be bisexual.
At least to my understanding, actual bisexual (not counting the bi-curious) people are a minority even compared to homosexuals.
So I mean, if you wanted to be statistically correct, the majority of characters should be straight, with a few LGBT characters here and there, since they are inarguably a minority.
I could see that trend easily changing in Mass Effect's case, where people are openly often fucking aliens and whatnot, wouldn't be a stretch to say that most people are willing to go either way.
Of course that's in Mass Effect's case, FO4's is just laziness.
Well, true. Mass Effect is way in the future, who the fuck knows what could happen to that kinda shit in some hypothetical future hundreds of years off.
I think the part people have complained about with it is primarily that they changed a character that was originally straight into being bisexual though? I'm not really sure, not a big ME fan personally.
It's essentially impossible not to do it. Putting people into categories is pretty much essential for human society, because obviously it's not possible to deal with every single person on a completely individual basis. It sucks, but it's necessary.
I'm sorry, but no. You're talking about stereotyping SJWs, not what's essential to human society.
Let me just jump in to say that the generalization of individuals plays a big role in a huge amount of society's issues; racism & discrimination, to name a couple. Ever since I realized what a hypocrite I was for flaming fandoms because of their loud minorities, I've strived to hold neutral & reasonable opinions, logically regarding people either personally or solely based on something they all have in common.
To hear someone defend this as something essentially impossible not to do is something else. That's just called being simple. If you can't deal with everyone on an individual basis, don't - doing it anyway is not the solution. Recognize a group's majorities and minorities, and understand how little a few views actually tell about a person.
