I'm confused, why did this happen?
gamergate was spooky back then. i remember the donation notes says "AGDQ shows that gamers will do anything to help people #gamergate" or something similar, and i guess they dont want to be associated with the group
At least the drama is entertaining, unlike this borderlands run.
Are you watching the same run I am? I'm enjoying it immensely.

I dunno I'm enjoying the run (even if the jokes are sometimes pretty iffy), but it's probably because I like the game itself a lot.
What are safe spaces in a context like this?
I'm just trying to kinda talk about how they've banned any sort of jokes that could rile anyone up. I mean, saying "Shit" can get you in trouble.

(because if you do they'll take your money and ban you from the event) :v:
It amazes me how much of a party shitter the management can be at AGDQ. It's actively preventing me from enjoying the stream to its fullest because I know that behind the streamers having fun there's some shitheads banning people left and right for minute shit.
This drama is some silly shit, but I've never seen a borderlands 2 run before and really enjoyed this one. That was nuts and very entertaining.
This run is sooo boring
its cold where i live and i passed out for 20 minutes during the borderlands speedrun because i was under a warm blanket FUCK
at least i see the glitch exhibition
the mgs2 segment is at 4 in the morning for me and i've classes tomorrow, goddamn

"pulling an extension cord" They can't be serious

Same here, never watched a BL2 run and it really wasn't that bad. Sounds like the route they took has really been optimized quite a lot. I think one of the runners mentioned shaving almost 13 minutes off the WR time over the past year or something.
The words "thicc" "cosmo" and "ANELE" have been banned from Twitch chat.
Their most heinous crime yet. Let's see Allah grant them their 72 virgins now.

Not swearing on a broadcast doesn't sound very unreasonable to me, in fact that's very common.
Is that really much of a problem?
Man I should go back and play Psychonauts again, haven't done that in a looooong time.

I think they want to keep it family-friendly to encourage donations
There's 160k viewers right now after all

It only bothers me in comparison to what the event used to be.
Are the people on the sofa behind the peeps playing close friends with the speedrunner?
That one guy who says he's disappointed in this guy with huge nerves playing psychonauts hurts the inner core of me.

There were rules against swearing in the very first one too, but I'm guessing the problems are way beyond that by now.

Makes some sense. But at the same time, there are going to be a runs of games like Doom 4 and Hitman. :v:

What is the point of the rule when you have games like:

Couch commentary is runner's choice. So it's safe to assume that it's friendly banter.

To attract more sponsors and retain an image that's open to all demographics.
It does ruin some fun, but it makes total sense looking at the growth in public relations GDQ has to manage now.

tbh if you're watching with kids and you see it's a GTA game then you can just not watch the stream for a bit, viewers with children watching donkey kong can't exactly expect the runner to shout "MAN FUCK THIS SHIT" suddenly during the run. i know there's a lot of people watching with kids so i really think it's fair especially when it's a charity event.
it also maintains a more professional, respectable image for the entire organization.

To discourage inappropriate discussions / insults, whatever. People say stupid things if they're left unfiltered, and that's probably best to be avoided for something as public as this.
They COULD have different rules for every run, but it's simpler to just have one rule that extends throughout all the runs.
