AGDQ 2017: Helping prevent cancer without standing in front of a moving shuttle!
I've not really touched the series properly since like gen 4, so I have no idea if they fixed the bugs or not in remakes. Though it's likely, the hardware in the DS shouldn't need many quick little memory saving hacks.
Probably plenty of arbitrary code injection exploits just waiting to be found though!
I mean the ports. The Fire Red / Leaf Green remakes are another deal entirely, but they ported the original Red and Blue (or Green in Japan) to 3DS Virtual Console. The only modifications they made were for the trading system so that Pokemon from those games could (theoretically) be brought up from that generation and through to the rest of the series.

Shit I totally forgot those were a thing for a bit.
Well, the VC ones are probably still perfectly busted because it's just emulation. If it behaved differently it wouldn't be emulating correctly. Though at the same time if it made the games more stable it'd probably be worth changing how it behaves. The emulator is likely generic, so it'd be a somewhat accurate gameboy that every ROM should boot on at least. I think.
Really need to get back into the tech behind this stuff again. It was pretty neat.
seeing how AGDQ fucks up every year, has there been an attempt to form an alternative speedrun event?

Someone posted about the "North American Speedrunner Assembly" on /v/. Looks like its going to happen in May.
Yet this is the preferred one? Maybe it's just lost on me because i didn't grow up with it.
hoennbabbies and lower haven't actually played a pokemon game in years. they just blare the loudest whenever their "preferred" game gets a spotlight because of epic nostalgia childhood feels etc.

man I got Jarachi and pretty much every single Pokemon I could legitimately get back in the Hoenn era and I don't praise it, I just say I got burned out in the 4th gen
plus he was talking about RPGs in general, not Pokemon generations
Get the fuck out of here with this audio, how many years does it take to get this shit right

there are plenty of marathon events that happen year round.
most notable are nasa, esa, and californathon for live events
Either someone messed up the cabling on the Sparkster run, or at every single stage transition the signal gave out for seemingly no reason.
I want more drama
and now the stream's gone down mid-Decap Attack
As much as I enjoyed watching that run, he did totally deserve that for telling people to spam a corporate twitter account (American Airlines, wasn't it?).
he wasn't banned for that
he was banned for disrespecting staff by "making fun" of owen wilson
this guy running lbp is not appreciating the input from the couch.
Damn, I missed the first twenty minutes of Pac-Man World because when I saw the name I mentally interpreted it as the weird adventure game Pac-Man game.

As far as I'm aware every commercial GB/GBC ROM works when injected into Virtual Console. With injects you can even disable the ugly forced ghosting and colour washout that the VC emulator applies for some reason.
Why does that dude come each day with same clothes with his trap waifu to stroke his beard anyway.

that beard stroking guy is so fucking lame and he doesnt know it.
I am looking forward to the MP2: Echoes run, Miles is a cool guy and usually puts on some pretty great runs.
I saw the MGS2 run on Youtube, Why is it so dark? I can barely see anything going on in some parts.
I can't help but fear this runner will get banned from AGDQ.

Why so? He hasn't done anything that would trigger the AGDQ staff besides enjoy himself.

It's just a couple of silly things he did, like zooming into Ganondorf's butt and saying "that ass".
He'll be fine.
Banned for being too much fun.
just like tetris, cant have it this year because they were at the last two but its probably the most popular block and they dont have a problem with tired old nintendo runs year after year
