I greatly prefer first person for games like this but I feel like I can't really blame people because I'd probably be just as annoyed if a first person series I had a lot of investment in suddenly switched to forced third person
I want to see some gameplay showing off the game's mechanics like inventory management or puzzles/combat, hide n seek survival horror isn't anything super cool to watch
nobody has any investment in sequels for this franchise after 6
any change to that formula is for the better
Why are there hillbilly's.
They could be blending in a Texas Chain Saw Massacre/Hills Have Eyes-style plot with the basic RE formula.
Since viruses seem to be present in the game, it would be cool to see how it affects people outside of the normal environments we've seen in past installments.
Agreed. This game looks like a decent horror game and an awful Resident Evil game.
Every time I look at something new from this game I'm thinking "So, a Tyrant or a big water creature or a fuck off huge spider or a plant monster is gonna pop up and we'll shoot it right? I mean those are the things that make Resident Evil an iconic series and not just Scary Game Series #52...so, where is anything substantial that makes this Resident Evil?".
This is looking like another case of strange, gamer delusion. Like when everyone said Resident Evil 4's control scheme was vastly superior and totally different to classic RE... and it was literally the same fucking tank controls with slightly better aiming.
Yeah well RE6 had those things you say are substantial for Resident Evil and look how that fucking shitshow turned out.
I actually found Resi4 scary in some parts, not this kind of scary but quite nerve wracking especially when you got fucking cornered by the villagers.
I hated the monks doing those ominous voices. They got even worse when I couldn't see them.
I know that Devil May Cry came from a wildly different Resident Evil sequel but how the fuck did they go from that to Devil May Cry?
Hideki Kamiya?
Resident Evil 5 was alright to play in coop, but 6 was an abomination. It didn't even make fun in coop because almost everything about the game was embarassing and bad.
With Resident Evil 6, I thought Leon's campaign was really good and then the other two were mediocre
B-but 4 was good :c.
Yeah it was. And I even enjoyed playing through 5 in co-op with my sister (who is a huge Resident Evil -fan). But the description "survival horror" doesn't really fit them.
Now THIS looks like survival horror.
I'm still feeling more hype for the remake of Resident Evil 2 than this, even though we haven't seen it yet.

Leon's was good, and I thought Sherry's was good as well. Chris's campaign was expectedly bad though.

it was an action thriller with horror elements

The first hour was okay. It had something you could call atmosphere. But the rest of the game was just not good.
- too hard trying to be "cool" with the coolness of the characters and the the slow-mo scenes) <- it could be taken as rather goofy and sympathic to have this played coolness, but the problem is that the entire game tries to take itself serious
- embarassing voice acting (especially for Ada)
- it had an almost non-existent story (which was mostly told through those coins that you had to shoot
- illogical sequences (like falling down 40 m and not being hurt at all)
- very frustrating gameplay with shooting zombies and getting knockdown'd when specific damage is taken
- waaay too long, exhausting boss fights which were dragging on too long
- puzzles were too easy and the annoying shaky cam showed the right way in levels too often (not letting the player to think stuff)
While this has me intrigued, I'd love to see another survival horror with tank controls and fixed camera angles.
I also love fixed camera angles in RE and SH, but modern gamers probably wouldn't be too into it.
So far this doesn't feel and or seem like Resident Evil at all.

I mean it seems "cool" enough but eh, I'd had preferred something else out of it.

This is the most "Resident Evil"-like game we've gotten since 1996.
It's in an evil house. Literally Resident Evil. Plus it's actually survival horror again, not some third person shooter.
I think our protag will be silent. And I don't think this girl is it.
The trailer is clearly a tape, like in the demo. It's likely one of many playable tapes you can find as the main character, probably Ethan. Probably the same dude we play as in the demo.
Who is probably looking for this girl. It seems like you'll find a variety of tapes in the game of different people, all of which playable. Which I really like, as mini-stories within the main game.
We know that Ethan will be able to use weapons, shotguns are teased and there are controls for it as well as an axe in the demo. I feel like this family has an infected member who they kidnap people to feed or something, or they're all just fucked up from another one of Umbrellas experiments considering the family man in the demo is missing a lot of face skin.
I don't see what's not to like about this. Survival, horror, actual combat, looking for someone, a staple of the franchise, mini playable stories throughout the game. Sounds great to me.
If this gameplay trailer isn't representative of the kind of gameplay you'll get, it's doing the game a disservice, and could be considered misleading.
It's some of the gameplay, they're just saving the main event for later.
They could simply split the franchise into two: Resident Evil and Biohazard, one being action horror, the other one survival horror.
biohazard is a much more appropriate name for the series than resident evil.
This is the one moment in gaming history that will forever elude historians. "Just how did Leon S. Kennedy gain demonic powers and become a total badass?"
Some will say it was executive restructuring of a failing project. Others will rightly claim Kamiya willed it, and it happened.
DMC 1 through 4 still have a weird number of holdovers from the RE series. The way it handles description text in DMC is the exact same way, a lot of the "puzzles" are in a similar vein.
Other than DmC, Leon and Dante always look the same in their games.

Based off his appearance and abnormal kung fu abilities, I'm convinced Leon is the son of Sparda in another alternate reality like DmC.

In the version of RE4 that evolved into Devil May Cry, Leon was actually Oswell Spencer's son.
