Woman harrasses service dog, guy tells her to eat shit

Making fun of handicapped people is the lowest of the low really.
Why are you defending the woman who made the remark about "At least I have a working pair of legs" to the guy sitting in the wheelchair?
Never defended the woman once
Why are you defending the woman who made the remark about "At least I have a working pair of legs" to the guy sitting in the wheelchair?
He's not defending her - he's trying to say, "What did you expect?" and not everything is a simple matter of logic. Sometimes you're just pissed and the world is against you, and saying that someone who is struggling to deal with people like this are stupid is extremely ignorant.
He deals with that all the time. I don't blame him for snapping once.
Was she still following him after he was trying to leave? Her snarky comment sounded close. What the fuck?
Yeah she literally says "I'm just gunna follow you".
Why would even try petting a dog without asking the owner in the first place?
That's just rude, and exactly what that girl was about to do.
Yeah she literally says "I'm just gunna follow you".
maybe she really should eat shit? the guy is fucking disabled, he was very polite at first too. it was clearly very obvious to the man, having to deal with this request all day, every day, what kind of person she was going to be in response to it. I think it's completely fair enough to tell her to get fucked and leave immediately. She's a complete nutter.
To be honest I don't think "fuck you eat shit and die" was a justified comment at the time when he could've just left.
The way it turned out though, with the woman following him, still makes him look better. Perhaps he's a good judge of character.
he clearly wanted to shut her down, rather than string her along with politeness, so he could just move on and not deal with her anymore.

not justified, but incredibly understandable with the shit this guy probably has to deal with. his life is harder than most, he gets to have a few offhanded comments to rude people.
The guy had the S.D since February, of course he is going to be annoyed by people like this, he is used to being able to do stuff fast, and due to him losing his leg, he can't do stuff fast anymore, and he is still adjusting to it, getting used to it.
If I was him, I'd be pissed to, even when it was that recent, and since different people kept doing it, in the same day.

This comment sums up my position relatively well

She is mild compared to what you have probably faced more often. However, your reply wasn't all that pleasant either. You gave her your attention and time, which she didn't deserve. She stopped and didn't pet your dog, even though she stood there and made the remark that she didn't like your attitude...well that's her problem, not yours. You should have just left without saying a word.
I say this out of my point of view. I am a service dog puppy raiser/handler and deal with people like her a lot during our outings at malls and such, and boy do they piss me off when they DON'T listen! I want to snap at them, but prefer not to because that will give a bad rep to the organization I am with. I realize you don't have to worry about that, but the first reply you gave her should have been enough. There is more like her in the world, swearing at them won't change anything. Just say "no, don't talk or touch, he's working" and leave....they are not worth your time or breath after that•
Maybe it was a little rash to call him an idiot. But the way he acted should have been a clear indication of what would happen next.

This sums it up for the rest of us.

your absolutely 100% right. I am kinda new to this service dog thing (not German Shepherds) since February and it was the 5th time that this had happened to me that day in walmart within an hour's time and I guess I had enough. Ya, I know my response wasn't pleasant and like I stated it, was the 5th time I was maliciously stopped in my tracks by rude people blocking my dog and petting him without the common courtesy of even asking. I admit it, I lost it, will do better in the future and follow your advise. Thank you for your helpful advise/comment = ) •

Both of them were idiots. The guy had an opportunity to politely educate the woman but chose to be a douchebag. Regardless of how she was going to act he was just as bad.
To be fair, he was being polite at first.
To be fair, he was being polite at first.
I'm aware, to be fair. I think the way he handled it initally was good.
I'm aware, to be fair. I think the way he handled it initally was good.
And the way she was trying to coerce him into letting her pet his dog wasn't.
And the way she was trying to coerce him into letting her pet his dog wasn't.
yes you are right it was handled wrong. I'm glad we are on the same page about that

the comment you agreed with here

should indicate what I am trying to say
Here is a concatenated and summarized version of everything I've said to restate my point
The guy had an opportunity to politely educate the woman

I get that it probably happens to him a lot
but
expecting someone who is already acting very stupid to not fly off the handle and to just walk away when you escalate the situation by verbally harassing the person [makes you look] stupid.

I'm just saying, de-escalation is always better than escalation, unless that is what you are trying to achieve, but if you are, then you don't really get too much sympathy from me.

And just on a final note just to clear up any problems with interpreting my position on the woman
refer to this
Yes, seriously do some research on Service dogs, people who get them are told to tell others not to give it any attention (calling it, petting it, etc)
I don't think the dumbs were necessary but thank you for informing me.
I love how you guys are getting all philosophical about whether or not a wheelchair bound man who clearly and calmly tells a woman to not do something she shouldn't - and does anyways -can tell her to eat shit and die? like really, this is your biggest concern about the whole thing, and you all feel like you have to be the devil's advocate today
yeah, she can eat shit and die. just listen to her.
imho, her "I don't like your attitude" response after being politely told off was just as insulting as "Fuck you bitch, eat shit and die".
I think he overreacted a bit too much, once he told her not to touch the dog everything was fine, even if her comment was "snarky" there's no need to go way over the line and all out abuse her, guy seems like a stuck up cunt. I would understand his tone if she kept touching the dog and annoying him but she just stood there and made one comment, if the guy was an adult or actually mature he would have left without insulting her.
Both sides are kinda dicks, she could have left without the snarky comment, so could he, such is life
In the Netherlands we used to have a commercial about a guy working in an office, and other people kept walking by throwing shit at him like balls, frisbies and pieces of candy.
The moral was something like "You can't work like this. Neither can a service dog. So leave service dogs alone."
She was being a pain in the ass, but telling her to "eat shit and die" so eagerly makes it difficult for me to wonder what put him in a wheelchair.
No, he politely told her that she can't touch the dog and her face fucking recoiled back and she said "I don't like your attitude." That's rude as fuck, she has no goddamn manners.
Stupid fuck status
[editline]9th May 2014[/editline]
He even said sorry, she just took it way too personal or something.
She just doesn't have any perspective on what it's like to be in a wheelchair, which sucks dick, or what it means to have a service dog.
Totally rude and didn't even stop to try and think about the situation,
Wow he's such a cunt, dont dogs like being petted and talked to or was it some terrible rabies infested dog that would tear her limb from limb if she even looked it in the eyes?
Wow he's such a cunt
If your go-to response for someone telling you to not touch their shit is "I don't like your attitude." then i think you're the cunt.
[editline]9th May 2014[/editline]
It's his dog, it shouldn't even matter if it's a service dog or that he's in a wheel chair.
If someone says it's not okay to touch their dog, you don't fucking do it. End of question, you say "Alright, have a good day." and move on.
[editline]9th May 2014[/editline]
The only reason why I wish he didn't snap at her was because it just caused more problems for him, she deserves to have that shit said to her though

I think he was the real cunt here "eat shit and die" he's so cool using those grown-up words
I think he was the real cunt here "eat shit and die" he's so cool using those grown-up words
He got annoyed when someone didn't respect anything he said, it happens.
Could he have diffused the situation better? Sure. But everyone is human so that doesn't always happen.
He said this was also the 5th time it happened that day, not to mention how many times it probably happens to him all the time.
When this shit happens all the time it wears down your patience.
[editline]9th May 2014[/editline]
She was just really rude and disrespectful to him for no reason, I guess she just didn't like the way he talked or something I really don't know.
[editline]9th May 2014[/editline]
The bigger thing to do would have been to just ignore her but not everyone can be perfect all the time.
I think he was the real cunt here "eat shit and die" he's so cool using those grown-up words
I'd lose my shit if I had to repeat the same thing to 5 different people politely then on the 6th person get told my attitude sucks, while trying to go about my day in my wheelchair with my service dog.
I wouldn't call him a cunt, everyone has their limits.

Yeah, I don't like talking to random people in stores regardless and that would bug the shit out of me.
She showed her true colors though with that "i have two legs to walk on" line though
You can call someone a cunt or a bitch all you want but you don't insult their inability to walk or anything like that, that's just low...

When a service dog is working, it's working. You don't distract people when they're doing their job and this is just that.
He just want's to get on with his day and he NEEDS that dog in order to navigate and go about doing shit. He doesn't want to take more time letting every single person who asks pet his dog.
He mentions all the extra time he wastes everyday dealing with people like this.
But more importantly it's possible to harm the owner and dog by distracting it.
Damn, her demeanor just screams crackhead. But he was a bit quick on the draw to say Fuck You
