It's like I just tried to cram all of AP World History into my head in twenty minutes.

This should be required viewing for AP World History.

the WHAP exam is tomorrow, I'm wondering if Bill planned this
whoops half of europe just died
I dunno why but "extinction ball" made me lose my shit
We waited so long. And it was worth it.
I personally spilled my drink with the bit about South Africa taking a bit longer to thing about racism.
I think my favorite small joke was gravity pulling people into the river valley.
For some weird reason I loved the bit with the Protons/Neutron when it said HOT! I loved this video.
The Martin Luther joke is probably my favorite. It's so on point and he doesn't miss a beat.
I wasn't expecting something as obscure as Samo's kingdom, even for a fraction of a second.

fucking amazing
"They raped Nanking way too hard, they should probably just deny it." Almost as savage as the occupying Japanese.
If anyone else tried the singing shit it'll come off as annoying as hell but with him it's just amazing and makes my ribs break every time.
Not anymore, there's a blanket~

I like how streamlined the video is because of how well the music and sound effects complements the narration.
The visual effects too.

he earned it
Feels like I got enough information for this day, time to go back to bed.
This man is the most pure example of what everyone should aspire to be: Hard working
That was just amazing, gonna have to rewatch this a few times to fully absorb it. The pope battering the Middle East with crucifixes was my favorite part I think.
The pacing is so good

I thought it was a little off in some places compared to history of japan, but for the most part it was as good as the last one.
Its a goddamn salt mine in the YouTube comment section, everyone is being angry about the "Europe raped africa" bit.
Besides that some people scream that he should have put trigger warning on the video :v:

yea one of the things I wondered about with this video was if he was gonna tone down the language after how many people commented to say they played History of Japan at school and asked for censored versions of the video as well. A grand total of 3 seconds into the video he says "fuck it" and I burst out laughing, and then when he kept saying "raped" I just knew people were gonna lose their shit even more. I'm really glad he's not worrying about censoring himself at least.

I think my high-school history textbook actually titled a section "The Rape of Africa". Given that it's a metaphorical rape, I guess the US public schooling system was fine with it.

Does the rape of Nanking get taught as anything else?

I'm really glad, too. When you're talking about the history of the world, you really shouldn't censor it.
It depends on how lenient the faculty is. My history teacher would show Saving Private Ryan to the Senior class every year when they covered WWII and one of my English teachers showed 300 when they started talking about Greek literature.

I don't think Nanking was in the textbook at all... the Pacific front of WW2 focused almost entirely on the US-Japanese war, relatively little mention of Manchuria or the Philippines or anything beside Pearl Harbor-Doolittle-Midway-Guadalcanal-Iwo Jima-Okinawa-Hiroshima-Nagasaki-VJ Day. There was mention of Japanese war crimes but all I remember being in the textbook was the POW stuff, the Bataan Death March and the like, none of the chemical warfare or experimentation or sex slave stuff. I suspect they didn't want to deal with the kind of parents who opt their kids out of sex ed complaining about it.
My teacher still covered Nanking, because he was awesome at his job and gave zero fucks about whiny parents or stuffy school boards, but I don't remember it being in the official textbooks.
Aww sweet! The anomalocaris made a cameo appearance in the video. It's my absolute favorite animal, they're adorable!
