The song reminds me of my "rebellious" youth listening to "punk rock" like Millincolin and Blink 182. I honestly don't see the difference in lyrical content and music quality.
I also used to listen to Less than Jake a lot, who also have a lot of vapid lyrics, but I think their hooks are way catchier.
