Cats are drama queens, dogs are bros. Why would you get a cat over a dog, I don't even know.

Arguing about that is just as dumb as arguing over cut or uncut dicks. There's no purpose to it. Everyone I know who doesn't like cats has had one or two bad experiences where a cat got pissy with them and that automatically nested a hatred in their hearts for cats, and vice versa for people who don't like dogs.
Are there cats that act like big shitheads? Of course. Are there dogs that act like big shitheads too? Sure are! It doesn't matter. Not all dogs are bros, and not all cats are drama queen pissy with everything. I've seen plenty of dogs that are mean as shit, no matter how nice the person who brought them up was to them. But I don't outright hate dogs or possess a lack of understanding behind why someone would choose a dog over a cat.
I have a Maine Coon and it's the bro-est cat I've ever had. It's more like a dog than a cat.

yeah that shit doesn't work the fleas are immune
Pro-tip: Bathe your cats when they're kittens. This way they get used to it at a young age and won't be afraid. Unless you do it wrong, then you'll probably make them more terrified.
Wouldn't he have been able to completely subdue the cat and break it's will instantly by just grabbing the back of its neck?
You need to wear goddamn plate armor if you're gonna bathe a cat.
I have to clean my dog with a hose, she's fearful of it but I have no other way of cleaning her. I can't exactly put her in a bath as she has arthritis.
Well, at least I don't need to give my cats any baths. They are clean at all times, always with lustrous fur.
Fuckers have better fur than I have hair, but then again, they clean themselves like 10 times a minute.
I didn't bathe mine regularly either. As he grew older he kinda stopped washing himself for some reason so I had to clean him every now and then. I imagine if you do this from birth regularly (even if the cat is clean) it gets easier.

That's not good for the cat. If he stops cleaning himself, it means theres something wrong with him. Or so I'm told. Don't know how accurate that is.
Got a mane coon, it takes it like a boss.
One hand far back under it's stomach keeping the back legs in place, and one up front keeping the front legs in place.
Boom, can't move a muscle.
my dogs hate bathing and showering
they run away when you hold a towel at them
[editline]19th June 2014[/editline]
but i find showering them is far easier
My cat used to call for us like we were in danger when ever we would get in the shower. Needless to say, she won't go anywhere near running water.
Some cats hate water, other cats love water.

I read the YouTube comments and I just lost a few IQs I think

let me guess, tons of retards spouting nonsense that the cat is being tortured, that it should be taken away and the owner never be allowed to own any pets ever again, etc.?
I remember my dad looked after this huge husky once and she leapt right in the bath once he asked her to. She loved pretty much everything ever.
Why is everyone bathing cats. When you do that they stop grooming themselves as often and i doubt it's very good for them. My cat always gets complimented on how lovely her fur is at the vets and she cleans herself, when she gets fleas we use the flea things and they work a charm.
the sounds cats make when they're getting washed against their will makes me laugh hard
anyway this thread reminds me of how much I want a pet, unfortunately my mother is full nazi about it and wont let me
Good God, you are one moronic redneck. I hope someone who knows you saw this and reported you for animal abuse. Treat the cat before it gets fleas so you don't have to torture it with your incompetence. As it is, I've reported you to Youtube•.
Sometimes it helps especially when your cat is pretty old. I can tell that my kitty hasn't really been grooming herself right over the last 3 years because at times she can fucking stink so giving a light bath or shower when it gets really bad doesn't hurt them.
We also used to have a cat who got hit by a car when she was pretty young, most of her face was smashed in and had to be resculpted but the downside was she lost half of her jaw so it made grooming very difficult for her, didn't help she was maine coon and persian cross so her fur was very long, had two coats and would very easily get matted and knots in it so she'd need to be constantly bathed every few months with brushing every 2-3 days.

It was pretty sad when the cat finally sank down and gave up on trying to escape :v:
There's no reason to give a cat a bath unless it like literally rolled in shit or something and is visibly filthy and can't/won't clean itself. :v:

That aside, the video was funny. Should have held it by the scruff.

Why the hell am I being dumbed to oblivion?

Cats can suffer from allergies just like dogs and humans do. So bathing them is in the long run soothing for when their skin gets dry and they get itchy.. Also flea-killing soap is another reason to bathe them.
Cat's also can't reach to clean their back and other parts of their body. Long-haired and old cats I would bathe too.

If your cat can't bathe itself properly for whatever reason, or is visibly dirty, of course giving it a bath is a good idea. But this guys cat was clearly young, in good health, and visibly clean. There's no reason to give a cat a bath without reason. Cats aren't like other animals, you're not supposed to just wash them randomly like dogs or whatever. Even the ASPCA says to only wash cats if they can't or won't clean themselves. This is like cat owning 101 and the fact that 35 and counting people dumbed my post is confounding.

You're surprised that people don't understand cat care? Most people still think that 100% of cats are assholes who don't give a shit about their owners.
I misread the thread title as "a guy tries to battle his cat", but guess I wasn't really that far off.
why does everyone think cats need baths?
my dog wouldn't even need baths if he didn't jump in the river and get all stinky
cats spend hours and hours cleaning themselves, they're made of fur, it falls off.
Oh god the comments.
