i never pinch my cats neck
i'm too soft, it just feels wrong.
That's not good for the cat. If he stops cleaning himself, it means theres something wrong with him. Or so I'm told. Don't know how accurate that is.
That's correct. He had liver issues and something like "urinary tract infection". He started getting seizures so I had to take him to the vet (again) and they put him down.

Yeah but that's the scruff. The loose skin on the back of the neck which doesn't let them move their head and makes them insensitive. Holding the neck itself is not the same thing. I do hope that's what he meant though :v:

It was made to be pinched by sharp cat teeth, I think it'll be fine.
From my knowledge cats don't need bathing. They can do it themselves. That's why the lick them-self.
late x1
My cousins used to have kittens when they were younger, and one evening when their parents were out, one of them spilled milk on the cats or something. Not wanting to get into trouble, they bathed the cats in the sink and were starting to dry them off when their mam came home. If she saw the cats wet she'd know something had happened, so they put the cats out for the night and pretended nothing had happened. The next morning the girls woke up to the cats frozen to death sitting on their window sill, turns out the temperatures dipped a lot that night, and the water literally froze on the cats. Their mam tells it as a funny story, but the girls are still horrified at it years later.

That's horrible, it sounds traumatizing...

jesus christ why
I don't get why people bathe their cats. We did it for our dog a few times, but cats clean themselves. If you feed them and take good care of them their fur stays clean
Unless they won't do it or they've done a Shawshank I see no reason to clean them

To be fair if I were the cat I'd probably act the same.
Yeah my cats are super clean and then just lick themselves, and if there's a spot they can't lick themselves (ie top of the head) they just get the other cat to lick for them. It's p cute
the reason cats don't like water is because they were never exposed to it growing up and consequently have no fucking idea what it is
sure, they drink it, but their tiny brains don't register the shit you pour on them as the shit they lick up out of a bowl. if you teach a cat to shower or bathe (for the fucking love of god don't put a cat right underneath a running tap) it will learn to love water. it's all about NOT being a shitty owner.
the trend is people who are really good with dogs and consequently not good with cats try to use methods they'd use with a dog on a cat and it simply doesn't work. learn how to care for a cat before you talk shit about them because 95% of the time it's your inability as a cat owner to rangle in that animal
