So am I supposed to be leaving my lower-back away from the wall or am I to have as much of my back as possible touching it? I guess I have sort of a slouch that results in a gap of air behind the small of my back when I try this- I can somewhat push it to the wall but I have to slump my legs a little bit to re-adjust the angle of my hips.
Please chiropractors of Facepunch, tell me, am I fucked?
I had chiropractic treatment performed on my lower back after an ugly go-kart accident and it definitely helped relieve some of the pain I was experiencing at the time.
But nah I guess that means I'm a braindead zombie who believes in voodoo magic and got scammed by a fake wizard doctor.

your back isn't straight, nor flat, and it isn't supposed to be. The gap of air at the small of your lower back is natural, and is part of the normal healthy curve of your spine. Put your butt against the wall, and your shoulders against the wall, and stand as comfortably straight as you can. That should result in a small gap around your lower back.
Do not try and do these with your spine pressed straight against the wall, that's not really how they were meant to help.
