I think the underwater stuff is cool, but it gets annoying about how they show that constantly.
Where are the zombies?
Where are the zombies?
In DayZ. This video is about Arma 3.
would be nice if they implemented some sort of melee combat
would be nice if they implemented some sort of melee combat
No, fuck that shit, it pisses me off to no extent. Battles aren't fought with hands or knives but on distances 20+ meters.
I'm not sure what to think on people wanting movements and menus streamlined. I mostly agree because I don't think i'd ever be able to memorize all of the technical shit or memorize menus quickly enough to not get shot while bringing one up. At the same time, though, I like to think of the ARMA series, Operation Flashpoint original included, as a real-time strategy simulation from a first-person viewpoint; tactics, formations, outwitting the AI (or players), there's bound to be gameplay sacrifices to encompass all of this massive content and detail as well as strategy at the cost of the game feeling right. If they could manage to streamline player control while still keeping the tactical element in full force without sacrificing either, i'd dare say ARMA 3 would be the best game of the series, hands down.

Even better if you are trying to be stealthy.
That blood on the screen at 14:59 reminds me too much of MW2's bloody screen which I hated. Overall it looks like a major improvement upon ARMA 2, and I'm really excited about the new vehicle physics. As weird as they are in ARMA 2, I still find speeding down the roads in cars enjoyable with the smooth steering.

You'd be lucky if you really knocked him out by smashing him in the face. Besides, if you are trying to be stealthy you should be carrying a gun with a silencer + subsonic ammo anyways, although those are pretty loud it's still better then someone screaming on the floor with a broken face. The only melee I could see happening in Arma might be coming up to someone from behind and smothering them.
Being able to use a knife wouldn't be bad. Even when you are not equipped for stealth, it happens quite often that you find yourself in a situation where killing someone less loudly would be preferable. Also ending up without ammo and having to simply look at the guy who hasn't noticed you 2 metres away is stupid. In real life you don't give yourself a lot of problems about taking a door and using it as a battering ram against somebody's spine when the alternative would be to wait for him to turn around, see you and shoot you.

6:46 HAYWIRE Interesting to know that they're set up near the guy(s) who made Dungeons of Dredmor.
Can't wait for DayZ for this
No, fuck that shit, it pisses me off to no extent. Battles aren't fought with hands or knives but on distances 20+ meters.
I was merely saying this because of DayZ, don't hurt me.
I really like the monitors inside vehicles, they'll make Expert mode that bit more immersive
It's really interesting to see everyone's complaints about the game, seeing as I've played since OFP and have gotten used to all of the "issues" in the game. The clunky movement is fixed pretty well by mods though, check out the ShackTac Movement Mod sometime.

Finally, shooting somebody in the face with a 120mm HE round won't just make them fall over slowly/fly through the air as a stiff body. Also love how he lowers his weapon at the end, looks to his right and you can see the stock. That just seems so cool to me.
Can't decide if I want to buy Arma 2: CO now, or just wait it out and buy Arma 3 instead.
Buy CO so they can have more money to make ARMA 3. Plus ARMA 2 is still a great game.
The guy presenting is really passionate about the game, I like that in a developer. So far this game looks amazing, and I know the standalone day z title is going to be amazing on this engine. I just hope my computer can run it on at least medium-high. [editline]10th June 2012[/editline]
Buy CO so they can have more money to make ARMA 3.
Can't decide if I want to buy Arma 2: CO now, or just wait it out and buy Arma 3 instead.
If you grab CO you should be able to join the arma 3 beta later this year witha any luck they're still making it open to all CO owners.
Well, I bought CO to support the company. Now I'm broke :v:
Also gonna get CO, also your name implies you're broke all the time anyway.
If you grab CO you should be able to join the arma 3 beta later this year witha any luck they're still making it open to all CO owners.
I preordered ARMA 2 when it was first coming out, and then bought OA later on. Technically they're Combined Ops, but would I still get to beta test?
im gonna kill you
Yeah dude ArmA 3 is gonna be awful without DayZ!!!
im gonna kill you
Why? Jesus everyone, stop being so butthurt and stop bitching because people buy Arma II and will be buying Arma III for DayZ.
DayZ 2
DayZ is an unoptimized buggy piece of shit in its current stages and you want them to crank out another so soon? lol ok
The helicopter physics look a lot better from someone who's actually piloted one. ARMA II had mediocre flight physics, and ToH had better, but still unconvincing physics. It looks like they've improved a lot in this demo though; I could actually feel myself flying in that demo heli.
