METTALURGY
In a few years we'll see the guy march out of the forest in a mechasuit with mostly clay and treebark innards.
this guy is literally reinventing human history
I'm hoping him to make bricks and build a brick house.
Metallurgy -> tools will help him to make even better house.

His tile roof is pretty sophisticated. At this point I honestly think gathering all the clay is starting to be a chore for him, so it's probably making all his building projects go a little slower.

????
snip, he beat me to it
I'm really excited to see how his metallurgy work goes, and how he manages to prospect for deposits. That'd be so interesting to see.

I would say reenacting at a very sped up pace. :v:
In my experience, round stones found on beaches and in rivers are far better suited than angular rocks that have completely random aerodynamic properties.
The "vrrrrr" sound you can hear from many of his throws indicate that he's only throwing angular rocks, and they violently tumble in the air reducing their accuracy and their momentum.
Damn, makes me want to try slinging again. It's so hard to throw accurately but insanely satisfying to actually hit anything.
I always found it more satisfying to use them to skip rocks across a lake or see how far you could launch them. Odd shape rocks also make a really badass whistling noise.
Fun fact; the people of the Baleares isles off of Spain were famed slingers. Supposedly, they were trained from childhood, similar to how longbowmen would be trained later in England.
I wonder how far up technologically he'll end up going in his videos

The Nokia

Oh god imagine using one of the indestructible Nokia's as sling ammo
Man slings seem pretty damn terrifying to be honest. A fucking shaped rock flying at you 50km/h or more? That shit is scary.

Or a piece of lead.

Would a rock really do much damage, though? Against a human, I can only see a cracked rib / nasty bruise being the worst that could happen, or a lucky hit to the head knocking you out / killing you outright.
If it was ammo specially made from lead, then I'd be a lot more scared.

the average river pebble weighs what, 200~500g?

1st century Roman doctor Celsus talking about sling stone removal from bodies.
"There is a third kind of missile which at times has to be extracted such as a lead ball, or a pebble, or such like, which has penetrated the skin and become fixed within unbroken. In all such cases the wound should be laid open freely, and the retained object pulled out by forceps the way it entered. "

In addition to this, it's not hard to think of it as the small, personal analog to a catapult a la (cross)bows to ballistae and guns to cannons. Not to mention you wouldn't think a rock could do much to sturdy citadel wall but, y'know.

are... you crazy...?
I dunno dude. That sling, the small rocks he was using, I really don't see shots to the body causing major wounds??
Like the worst I see happening is a cracked rib, or a nasty gash, or a big fuck-you bruise.
It'd be really interesting to use F = m*a to figure out just how much kinetic energy the rocks impart on impact from the sling.
I said before, the only way I see a sling being deadly to a person is if they're hit in the head or proper sling ammo is used (dense motherfuckers that'll punch a hole in you).

You're right, with his freshly-made bark sling and assorted rocks, that's the worst that could happen. With a good, professionally made sling and shaped stones or lead balls, you're talking about a real weapon, something that could be and was used to kill. If nothing else, consider that legends and stories sometimes have basis in fact, and that David used a sling against Goliath.
