I'm not sure to follow what you're saying. Having long legs is a talent? And skill is using those legs to run fast with it? Anyway, I think the point of the video is just to tell people that following your passion is not always a good way to make a living. And that you can still find a job as gratifying as your dream's one, even though it's less glorious.
Having longer legs is a genetic trait that can and will help you achieve faster results in swimming and running. Especially in swimming. It's an advantage that allows you to be ultimately faster than your shorter counterpart, if you both trained just as hard. If you can't accept that, then you're just being an idealist, not a realist. I'm not going back on this thread anymore, I fear I'd just lose my nerve and get banned if I kept arguing with the people here. The naivety in this thread is just absurd.
I see it like this. If you want safety and money, do what he tells you. Pursuing your dreams will cost blood, money and sweat. The thing is though, do you feel happy doing something you don't like as much, just because you want to feel safe? The most valuable thing you have, is your time. You can't buy back time. This is why so many people have the 40yr life crisis, because they have done what their parents or whatever, have told them to do. I have a friend who's a doctor at 30, with kids, marriage, mortgage, the works, and he told me that he already feels a bit frustrated that his life has just sort of "ended" after he finished studying. He wanted to go to some third world country, to help poor people, but his wife ordered him to not go anywhere. I feel that if you work hard enough, you can make a living out of your passion, or maybe you can have a part time job, just to make ends meet, while you're pursuing your passion. It's not a loss, but ultimately, it boils down to how hard you're willing to work, to make your passion, your work.
